Great - It's nice to have your support.   

I also agree that LJ has sounded great in the interviews he has done - and he seems to have been on the radio/TV a lot for being on the job a whole week.

Thoughts in MY shaking head:

Lots of emotional public talk about firing and hiring -- understandable I guess, but the longer all of his goes
on I am more and more concerned about the student-athletes.

Air time has been devoted to "defending decisions" -- haven't heard any of this defending be about decisions
that ultimately protect the experience and general well-being of the student-athletes.

I don't know much about Senator Taylor but she may be the ONLY one asking "who isn't getting what" because of
all of this -- how much financial support and leadership energy is being wasted on ego driven efforts that
ultimately effect the athletes and the staff members doing their best to do the day to day stuff that really
matters?

The long-time dedicated donors and fans have every right to be offended by the "they are upset because of their
allegiance to the coach" narrative. It's insulting at best.

What kind of people and organizations spend their best energy striking at criticism?

-- locking message board threads
-- adding "race" to the public comments from a broadcaster who evidently did a fine job for many years.
-- tv and radio time devoted soley to defending decisions

-- it all points to a culture of dysfunctional leadership that "dishes it out but can't take it".

Not an attractive situation for quality student-athletes -- or coaches/staff who really care about developing
successful programs -- sad because UWM (and even the athletic department) has many folks dedicated to doing exactly that.

It's the exact same thing when he brought Bielema over from Kansas St to be his defensive coordinator. In other words, he personifies successful leadership, which has been sorely lacking for years now at Milwaukee.

Were I hired as athletic director at Milwaukee, you know what I'd do in my first 180 days? Spend a week in Fort Myers, Florida with Bud Haidet and soak up every morsel of knowledge the man has, because he was damn good at hiring coaches.

The spectacle that is the UWM athletic department was the subject of Bob and Brian's sports segment with Steve Czaban (and Stephanie Sutton sitting in)on 102.9 this morning. The firing, the hiring, Bill Johnson, etc. They took a few callers and overall there was nothing that has not been bickered over on this board--- except that towards the end of the segment Czaban said he received a text from an "anonymous source" saying that there is currently an unnamed group pursuing a freedom of information request related to the AD dept emails related to all of the hiring and firing decisions related to the Jeter/T.J./Jordan situation. If true, that could be very interesting.
