I posted this in another thread and it was ignored, so I will try again. I think these questions are fair and should be answered. I look forward to continuing to be ignored by the members of this board (gomkepanthers, PantherProud, etc.) who have spent a lot of time screaming "performance" in defense of Braun's firng of Jeter and her decisions over the last 3 years. ----------- Speaking of goals and evaluating performance based on goals, I wonder how well Braun is doing regarding goals set for her. I don't even know what her goals are...but I would hope she has some and is being held to them. Specifically: - I would like to know if the corporate sponsorship goals are being met. I would expect that by year 3 of her tenure we would have seen overall growth of the corporate sponsorship dollars by anywhere from 10 - 20%. That is only 3% - 7% growth annually and should not be considered to be a high bar to meet. I have heard that we are moving seriously in the wrong direction where this item is concerned, but would like to see the actuals.
- I would also expect to see donations to the Panther Fund grow at about the same rate. Money given to improve the Panther Arena to accommodate the Admirals should be excluded from those numbers as they are not really "usable" dollars for the Milwaukee athletic program. There is some benefit to the Milwaukee program due to those upgrades, but that money is spent largely by the Admirals on the Admirals for the benefit of the Admirals.
How is the Department doing in terms of conference championships overall and the McCafferty Trophy. I know we won it in 13-14...but Jeter won the conference tournament that same year, so apparently one win in that period is insufficient to be deemed a successful tenure. A little research shows we finished second last year and are tied for 4th this year. It seems we may be trending the wrong direction.
These seem to me to be key elements in the performance of any AD, and it is fair to say that we are not seeing the AD perform nearly to the expected levels.

Show me one post of mine where I've said that. I'll hang up and listen.

You are entirely correct. I included you in error. I have edited the post to reflect the record correctly. My apologies.

On this post, I completely agree with you. Everyone from the chancellor on down should be held accountable to the goals set for them. I haven't seen actuals on fundraising etc. But if Braun is falling short, Mone should hold her accountable as well. If the standards are set high and enforced our program will improve over time.

You have seen the program's biggest donor very publicly cut ties with the program, citing Braun specifically as the reason. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

I agree these are serious questions that deserve to be answered. Have these questions been posed to the Athletic Department? I don’t have any affiliation with the university or the athletic department and I don’t have the data to answer these questions.

Hey gomkepanthers, can you put together a table for the baseball program in the last 9 years? It's your turn this time Done. I'm not in any way condoning we fire Scotty Doffek. I'm just showing how the standard set for basketball is different from the standard of baseball. There's something else that I want to bring up, because I want to move the discussion away from Rob Jeter, who is no longer the coach, and back to the search for the new one. In her media appearances, Amanda Braun has mentioned that the basketball team is funded "at the top of the Horizon League." This is simply not true for anything outside of the head coach's salary (and Jeter's salary is about to be passed at another HL school, but I can't say which school because I promised the journalist on the story I wouldn't break that - just pay attention early next week). The basketball program is funded fourth in the Horizon League: Source: U.S. Government - ope.ed.gov/athleticsFourth. Since Rob Jeter's salary was highest in the conference during 2014-15 (and 2015-16), it's possible that the program's expenses would rank 5th or even 6th, considering Milwaukee is only about 85k more than UIC in 6th. What does that say to me? It says that if Amanda Braun is saying that MBB is funded at the top of the Horizon League, she has to be counting the naming rights on the basketball arena, which is obviously bullsh*t. The travel budget of the basketball program went down considerably this season (Rachel Phelps-Charter Jet>Crappy Jet>Old Bus). It also says to me that if you really want the basketball program to get better, the MBB budget has to get higher. Fourth is really only one spot better than the program has achieved lately (5th-placers, right Jason?). So how can Amanda Braun expect the next coach to achieve top 3 in the Horizon League and top 100 in the NCAA when she's not funding the program at that level? Also - does she not know athletic department numbers reported to the government are open and available to anyone who can use the internet?
