The league was so much stronger a few years ago which makes me wonder why UWM isn't always on top now and every year. I can think of a notable one...

Is there really that much difference between 10 to 20 in the RPI ranking? It seems movement week to week is inevitable. Simply put, there's an immense difference. If a league is ranked in the top 10 of the RPI, it has a viable chance of putting two or even three teams into the Big Dance, as the West Coast Conference did just a few short years ago. If a league is rated below 12 or 13, it has almost no chance of gaining multiple NCAA berths. Ask any Valparaiso fan what he thinks of his team's at-large chances unless the Crusaders run the table all the way to the league title game. Even then, there's no assurance they'll be picked. Witness Green Bay two years ago, Murray State and Old Dominion the year before that, Drexel in 2012, St. Mary's in Patty Mills' senior year and on and on and on. And movement in the RPI once the league season starts is miniscule. In fact, a league is basically locked in place once January arrives.

Glad I got some lively discussion going here. If I had never been on this board I would know or care nothing about the issues with the Horizon and TV. I would love to see more exposure for the Panthers but I'm not sure a game or two more on ESPNU per year is going to make that big of a difference nationally. I just heard someone talking on national sports radio about Henry Ellenson struggling to get NBA exposure because he was at a program like Marquette. The Big East perceives itself to not be getting enough attention and we're thinking the Summit league would help our program?
I don't pay much attention to RPI so I certainly wasn't aware that the Summit was considered that much better than the Horizon this year. The Dakota teams are really solid all around sports programs with good fanbases, but the rest of the teams in that conference are a hodgepodge of teams that only very dedicated college basketball fans would know of. Personally, I'd much rather play teams like Green Bay, Detroit, Valpo and Cleveland State than play Western Illinois, IUPUI and Denver.
I've tried really hard to let people know that I have had a great time at the few UWM games I've been able to attend. I wear Panther gear. I have to think local word of mouth and attention does more than a smidgen of increased attention nationally. And certainly, beating teams like Wisconsin and Minnesota helps most of all. Imagine if we could beat Marquette regularly? Now THAT would really help attendance.

Where do you propose we go? I am a relatively new Panther fan so I don't know all the history. I know the MVC took Loyola (though I'm not sure why). Would they really be interested in UWM? That's the only conference that makes sense, right? The Summit league is horrible. It's not like we're going to the Atlantic 10 or anything. Yes, the Valley is the only realistic option. Will it happen? Doubtful unless we can get the practice facility started. Chances are Valpo would be option #1 for them and I don't see why they wouldn't bolt before you could finish blinking. There's a couple options. Realistic is a matter of sales. I think anyone can be sold, but the opportunity has to be there. Only one opportunity exists, and it's not the MVC. The Summit isn't an option, honestly. That would be a dumb idea, a lateral move at best.

Please don't say the Atlantic 10.

Please don't say the Atlantic 10. I'm not, although that wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Answer this question: why did conferences come together in the first place? Answer it, then you'll start to see my idea (no, it's not independent). Of course, the idea is sort of on the Premium board for PantherU - not because I want it to be exclusive, but it's an idea that would irk a lot of people.
