Fouse will go on a rebounding spree if Tiby and JJ jack threes. Even if they shoot them well, it's not going to help us. Get the three the old fashioned way, fellas.

Fouse will go on a rebounding spree if Tiby and JJ jack threes. Even if they shoot them well, it's not going to help us. Get the three the old fashioned way, fellas. I think you're leaving out someone who will also be very likely to jack threes all game. Regarding that... we've all seen what Austin can do. And one has to think that he shows signs of that player during practice otherwise why would he still be starting over Cody? Although my patience is wearing thin, I'm going to continue giving him the benefit of the doubt since I find it hard to believe a shooter with that ability can just lose it after two years of being the go-to guy. But I do think a little time on the bench might be the kick in the you-know-what he needs to get his stroke back. It pains me to see him out there trying to get it going when we've got a guy like Cody not getting the playing time he deserves. I think a starting five for Fridays game of Tiby, JJ, Jordy, Cody, and JR would be our best chance of getting ahead early (assuming Springs won't be suited). At the very least, I think Cody and Austin should be 50/50 with playing time. We just can't afford to have a guy on our team shooting 10 threes per game unless he's going to make at least half of them. Should be a hell of a game though. Green Bay is much better than I thought they would be this year. Hopefully the students can show up once again and we can get a much needed win. Our final road trip after this game is going to be a tough stretch. I think we'll be lucky to get out of there 3-2. So we can't afford to let this one slip away!

I wasn't leaving Austin out. I was saying JJ and Tiby need to stay down low 80% of the time because without them, any missed shot is likely going to be lost.
If Austin is missing threes, but JJ and Tiby are fighting down low and Cody is in the 8-12 foot area ready to slap a long rebound out to half court, we still stand a good chance of keeping the ball.
What hurts us is when only one of JJ or Tiby is in the game, and that person takes the shot, our chances of an offensive rebound are almost none.
I think until Akeem comes back, the best thing we can do is start JJ, Tiby, Cody, Quan and Jordy. Austin is first off the bench for either Tiby or JJ, then JR comes in for Quan or Cody.

You're overthinking things with that proposed lineup. JayQuan is playing like a freshman right now. JR is playing like a senior. You're welcome.

Does anyone have any extras for this game? I have a few people who are looking to go. I know the ticket office was giving 4 free for ticket holders. We used ours for Wright St already.

JR deserves more time over JQ. He kept us in the Oakland game on both ends of the court. And we need his defense with Akeem out. I don't know Green Bay's team at all. Do they have a player he matches up with that needs to be shut down?
I agree with the above. AA and Cody should split 40 minutes at whatever position they are playing at the time. Maybe some extra bench time for AA will light a fire under him and he'll find whatever he lost sitting out last year. Tried of watching AA miss open 3's.

You're overthinking things with that proposed lineup. JayQuan is playing like a freshman right now. JR is playing like a senior. You're welcome. Exactly. Which is why I want him off the bench. I trust the starting five I put out there to score up front. Bringing in June off the bench would be a big jolt to the offense, bigger than it would be with Quan. I just don't know how we'd defend bigger guards without Quan. For this game, missing Keem is going to be so huge. We don't have anyone to match straight up with Fouse defensively. He can play from anywhere, so Quan will need to mark him on the perimeter and JJ down low. But moving JJ to Fouse opens up Lowe, who isn't terribly dangerous but the guy shoots 50%, so he's efficient when he does score - it's almost always within a few feet of the basket. He may only score 8 points, but 4-of-4 shooting would kill us, especially if it's momentum-killing dunks. Green Bay, like Oakland, is a free-running team. Unlike Oakland, they can be controlled. Just play efficiently.

We actually controlled the pace of the OU game pretty well. OU got very few fast break opportunities.
Fouse is terrific and Love can get hot, but I'm optimistic about this game unless Max Hooper transfers to GB tomorrow!

Turned on the MU game for 30 seconds only to see they were playing a team UIC could beat. Our student section was definitely bigger last game! Hopefully we can have just as large of one for the GB game!
