I am ripe for an expletive-laced tirade.
Every year since I arrived on campus in 2010, this university has come up with something new to f*** it's athletics program. Whether it's hiring idiot Athletic Directors one after another, changing men's basketball venues on a whim, not having compliance people in place to make sure we don't get banned from NCAA tournaments, refusing to lobby in favor of the practice facility that's PAID FOR because it would look bad because of budget cuts, and now voting in favor of having the HL Tournament in DETROIT?
When will they run out of ideas to f*** this program over? Every time I think we're good, they come up with a new way to f*** up. Frankly, I'm sick of it.
Even if we go 16-0 in conference play, this is one diehard who is not making the trip. f*** Amanda Braun, and f*** the Horizon League. I'll sit at one of my favorite bars here in Milwaukee and watch the game.
This university goes out of their way to make sure by the time you graduate, you want nothing to do with the place. I'm even having second thoughts about becoming a ticket-holder at this point. I've just had it.
P.S. If the rumors are true that Braun is just out to f*** over Rob Jeter and his staff, she should have the BALLS to come out publicly and say so, instead of approving moves that f*** over the program as a whole.

Here's something else:
Fran's scenario for attendance is a best-case one. What if there's snowfall or an ice storm?
We're talking about an eight-hour bus ride, people. In fact, I've witnessed the program canceling bus trips because of the weather.
What a disaster!!!

This is completely shortsighted and a HUGE step backwards. This is trying to fix something that wasn't broken. They fixed what was broken by going to the highest seed hosts after the infamous 2002 title game between Loyola and UIC at Cleveland State.
There is nothing left to prove in this league for Milwaukee. I want more challenges by moving on to another league. Moves like this though don't indicate that those who make decisions on campus see us as anything other than the Horizon League being the best thing Milwaukee can achieve by calling it "our level".

And let the record show that Billy, Bryce and Rob, all coaches who had hosted the damn thing, were all steadfastly against this.

And upon seeing the dates of Friday, Saturday, Tuesday are still in play, this is a HUGE f***ING MISTAKE.
It wont work, you want to make it a thing, you need to a weekend, who can stay in DETROIT, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. You will lose a lot of people who have to work and wont drive back out.

This is the equivalent of New Coke or the Marquette Gold, and it needs to be corrected in the same way. I'm dead serious in saying the league ADs need to look at the fan reaction and reverse this decision NOW. This is a disaster, and the administrators simply have to stand up, take responsibility and admit they were wrong. The fact that this occurred without any kind of fan survey at the league schools was a terrible, terrible mistake. And if that didn't happen because they knew or suspected how fans would react, it's a shameful mistake.
Reverse this decision NOW. Not only will this condemn the league tournament to irrelevance and embarrassment, it will remove an enormous part of the incentive for teams to play hard late in the season when they are already out of the championship race. There is simply no part of this decision that makes any sense whatsoever from the standpoint of improving our league, and I would say that if the tournament was going to be located in Indy, Chicago, Dayton, Cleveland, even Milwaukee. It's not about Detroit, even though Detroit may be the single least attractive venue that you could possibly find in the HL footprint. And if it's about $20,000 per school, God help us. It would take about 5 minutes to gin up enough donors to cover that if it would prevent this idiocy.

There were more students spilled out onto the court after the 2003, 2005 and 2006 championship games than there will be in the stands at any game at Joe Louis Arena not involving Oakland or Detroit.

From the Detroit Free Press:
"The Detroit plan puts the whole tournament, including opening-round games, in the city, a single site, regardless if Oakland or Detroit happen to be eliminated before the championship game."
This part of the deal is just unbelievable. Now you've got nine games stretched out over eight days in the same city smack-dab in the middle of a semester or spring break. You're essentially telling students at the 10 member schools to choose between Detroit and Cocoa Beach, Daytona or Siesta Key. Gee, I wonder what they'll decide to do?

Any indication at all about why Amanda supported this change? I mean there has to be a logical reason...maybe? I just cannot think of any at the moment. Ugh.

What idiots thought of this idea? At some point, the University has to stand up for the students, and alum. I am calling for all those that supported this foolish idea to resign. Think of the cost. They are pushing me further and further away from this program.

The Sun Belt Championship pitted Georgia State vs Georgia Southern, the conference's top 2 teams, on a Sunday in New Orleans. They drew approximately 1,300 in a 9,000 seat arena. That's in a city that people actually WANT to visit. Unless the Michigan schools, Valpo or Wright State are in the finals (the last two are around a 4 hour drive to Detroit) are in it there will be similar numbers in a venue almost 2.5 times LARGER.
Let's not also forget the NHL hasn't released their schedule for next season yet. Do you REALLY think Gary Bettman cares if there's a contractual obligation at the Joe the same night they feel like scheduling a random weekday game against anyone? I'm actually really hoping this happens.
