Valpo is awfully good; I'll pick the Panthers in a close one.

Mascot game report: chaos mostly, save for the hero, the Italian sausage, who, possessed by the spirit of Zach Lavine, hit his head on the rim -- albeit on an airball -- and hit the game-winning (and only) field goal with four seconds to go. A classic

The Valpo 11-0 run over a 5 minute span was a killer.

This game showed the Panthers have the pieces. We'll see how they develop the rest of the way.

I wouldn't get too excited about being close to Valpo. They aren't that imposing or good. We played them close at home too and lost but both you and we (UIC) own stronger strength of schedule standings than them with far worse records. They haven't beaten anybody and we both should have beaten them......... Not upset them either. If they don't win the Horizon League tournament don't look for them to get an at large bid to the NCAA.. Even with an impressive won/lost record.
We are close to them, for sure, but it's not like being competitive with a dominant team. We both just need to learn how to close out games we have had in hand earlier. If we both did both of our records would be significantly better. But that's why you play the games......

The funnier part of that post is he comparing us to UIC. UIC's program is a joke until they hire a coach. Word on the street is that Billy Donlon will be available. Schmidtty should make that hire as soon as he can. Until then, UIC is as irrelevant in the HL as YSU.

If WSU parts company with Billy Donlon, somebody is going to get a good coach.
