Nice win, but yeah- letting Detroit make it a two possession game in the final minutes was yet again a scary thing we have pretty much become accustomed to.
The big question is: CAN WE ACTUALLY BEAT (or even play remotely close with) VALPARAISO? I know Valpo is a good team. But I don't think our two blowout losses to them reflect the actual party of the two teams. Friday will be a fun one to watch.. Regardless, this season has already exceeded expectations. Champions aren't born overnight.
Saturday's Semifinal could be epic..... (Milwaukee vs. Green Bay 3rd and final match-up).
But there is no Saturday unless Friday goes as planned and the Panthers stomp the Crusaders and prevent a 3-game season sweep by them. I think we can. But then again as others have mentioned, it depends on who shows up.
Also, why is the board so quiet (yet 27 people are viewing this area apparently) after our first 2014 HLT win (and we were picked for last!!)? Ahhh. That's right. Nothing bad happened.
Well if the Panthers keep winning, some of you will come out of the woodwork and be a little more (cautiously) optimistic.... and if we lose Friday (or even Saturday- which would be absurd)- the "RAAAARRRR Fire Jeter" Squadron will sound the alarms and declare the season an utter catastrophe. I think we over-achieved. Sure we could have done even better if we were more consistent and could have avoided a pretty costly transgression* (injuries are inevitable).
GO PANTHERS!!!!
What a lot of "fans" don't realize is that we have 2 teams trying to win the game. Outside of the last minute or so of the first half the Panthers did not play like they were 10 down when they were 20 up. Detroit played VERY WELL to get back in the game.
There are 2 ways to evaluate UWM. It's like the glass is half full... UWM is either a bad team that occasionally plays well, or it COULD BE as I have said that this is a good team that has had some horrendous outings. Tonight was a very good basketball game won by a good team.
If prior to the Loyola game UWM fans were told that UWM would win 18 games, would you have thought that this was a successful season. The answer should be YES. But instead there is the crying about not doing enough. And even if we had maybe got to 20 wins (If Jay-O plays in every game) there would be the crying of the Fire Jeter crowd that 20 wins doesn't mean anything because of the weak schedule.
I want to make it clear that this post is not directed at Victor who along with a few others recognizes the reality of the season .
GO PANTHERS!!!
*although if it weren't for Jay-O's lengthy suspension, JR Lyle may never have gotten his chance to break out. I just hope we can win another game- or 2 or 3....
