Fear not Panther fans. Sometimes the teams we love fall from grace.
And when they do, it can stink to high heaven just like something else that happens!
We're not alone in the world of sports, either current day or in sports history.
The Washington Wizards are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their only NBA Championship in franchise history. Their current record is 3-17.
The 16 time NBA Champion LA Lakers are 10-14.
Manny Pacquiao got knocked out.
Life goes on, fans learn to adpat to their new reality or get fitted for brown bags to wear to games.
What are some other examples you can think of?

Green Bay Packers of the 70s and 80s.

Typically when "It Happens," the Head Coach is fired and something different is tried. That is not what's happening here, which is why people are so damn frustrated.

^This. Jeter inherited the MKE basketball program with more momentum than any coach in its history and has squandered away every last bit of it to where we're right back to where we were in 1990.
I've gotten so ambivalent to Panthers basketball that I wouldn't even care if we dropped down to D3 if it meant reviving football.

As 97 said, usually when It happens someone is held accountable. if we had some revenue stream to makeup Jeter's salary, he night be gone. When Ron Wolfe fired Ray Rhodes, he did it because something just wasn't right with the team, not that Rhodes was a bad coach. Boise State let Greg Graham go not because he was a bad coach, but they felt they could be in a better situation. Others can debate whether or not Jeter is a good or bad coach. But it is apparent that something isn't right with this program and there can be better. Our problem is we simply have an athletic department in the red with no revenue stream to cover the contract. So how can you hold someone's feet to the fire when they know that you have little leverage in making a change.

uwm97 is spot on. Couple that with the complete dysfunction of the athletic department and nothing is going to change. The "hope" for a better tomorrow is realistically a few years away. It'd be one thing if it was just a bad season or a rebuilding season like Jeter's 2nd year but we've been in a rut for awhile now and have had a significant downgrade in facilities with no end in site.

Sorry, but several of those examples fail as analogies.
Manny is one man, and he's aging. He's not a program that can bring in new coaches and/or players. Boxers decline, and therefore cannot be compared to a sports franchise.
The Lakers are the most popular team in one of the world's most prominent cities. They will undoubtedly bounce back, and quickly.
The 70s/80s Packers, despite being awful, still sold out their games and were cherished in the state of Wisconsin.
Our Panthers? No one cares about them. That's the difference. We had our shot with Bruce and it has been squandered. Butler took their momentum and rode it to the top.
Could it get better for us? Possibly. But as long as Jeter is here and as long as we're in the KC, it's not going to happen. We need money, and we don't have any. How do we get money? By being in a better facility and putting butts in seats through winning. Talk about a lose-lose scenario. That's why I'm frustrated.

In terms of Jeter's contract either way the U has to pay it. However, they don't need a big donor to step up and agree to buy him off, to remove him. They could ask themselves how much it would be worth to them to get a new coach who could put forth a better product, put butts in the seats and generate enough additional revenue to cover what we are paying him. The problem goes deeper than Jeter. We have a bunch of players who don't care, won't listen and even admit that they don't follow the scouting reports. A new coach could very well decide to end their scholarships and I don't think you'd hear much of an outcry from the fans that are left
