Lucky us...Van McNeil on the PA tonight. So obnoxious, and somehow redshirt Joe Tagarelli even picked up a foul.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, does Jeter comment annually in the MJS about having to overcome issues of effort with his players at points during the season? I know I have read that line several times before at various points in past seasons and just want to make sure I am not overreacting.

It was nice to get the win last night. Hopefully this will hep our guys get a little bit of their confidence back.
As far as some areas of concern, I have two main ones. First is rebounding. It seems like we gave away WAY too many second chance points. Some of our big men need to learn how to box guys out, because we can't rely on our guys under 6 feet to grab all the boards.
The second concern I have is leadership (on the floor, not on the bench). I know some people were not a big fan of Kaylon Williams, but one thing I really liked about him was the way he "directed traffic" during the games. Although his methods weren't always perfect, you could tell he played with a certain passion and had a knack for being the one in charge on the court. I don't see that with Aaron... but hopefully that will change.

Same thought with Kaylon and Jordan. Kaylon definitely had leadership qualities and never looked "lost" and just dribbled the ball at the top of the key for 10 seconds. I also thought that Kelm had a great game, he played like i wanted him to. scoring all his points by getting to the basket, and getting to the line, instead of launching 3 pointers.

In a past position with the Wisconsin DOT I was interviewed by the Milwaukee journal on occasion and know that they sometimes do not get quotes correct. So having said that, I hope this is a misquote: "It seems like nothing is going to go easy this year, but I'm proud of the fact the guys came out with a better effort, competed hard and found a way to win a game that at times we made very difficult," Jeter said. It seems we hear this every year around this time. This far into this coach's tenure we should not hear this every year. This far into this coach's tenure we should be kicking the crap out of teams like NIU. I know some say a win is a win, but that's the type of thing I say about my son's first year Class C Wisconsin Youth Baseball Team when they happen to notch a sloppy victory, with volunteer coaches who have other full time jobs.

i agree with the concerns raised 100%
no one seems to know how to box out and stop the other team from getting an offensive rebound this year, and there is no floor leader that i can see. I know Jordan had 11 assists last nite but he is still a score first guard, and I'm sorry he is no point guard he is a scoring/shooting guard. This team has no point guard but 3 guys that can play the off guard position. That is not going to work in the traditional offense that Jeter likes to run, if this team has a chance at winning games it needs to run and we saw some of that last nite, but even still they are sloppy with the ball not focused on making simple plays and jut don't seem to have a full understanding of the flow of the game.
James is lucky he can flop with the best of them cuz he put on the clinic of it last nite, the refs were not good on either side of the court it seemed but we def took advantage as James flopped around the whole game (kinda reminded me why i dislike watching the NBA honestly).
There is no reason why that game should have went to OT other then the fact that our guys got lazy and stopped playing with urgency and let NIU back in by letting offensive rebound after offensive rebound go as well as taking some stupid shots time after time after time. Oh and can we get someone who can actually pass, not sure how many times we had a guy who had to hope he was going to come down with a pass or look one way as the ball went the other...the best pass they had all nite was Mech's alley op, and even that Mech made a helluva play to get that ball and throw it down
best part about that game was getting the free chips and queso afterwards for the ride home....
