I don't know about you guys, but I have a good feeling about the future of UWM basketball. For the past couple of years, I lived in the Madison area, and gotta see Tagarelli and Arians play multiple times, even watched them play against each other at Edgewood their senior years. Also checked out a few of their AAU tournaments, and like I said, Ian really excited about these guys.
We all know how talented J.J. And Evan are, but I'll break down what I see from Joe and Austin.
Austin Arians:
Dude can light it up! He is one of the streakiest shooters I've watched in a long time, and when he's feeling confident, like we saw in the scrimmage, he can knock down the threes left and right. Listed at 6'6" he is the perfect size for a wing player, and once he gets a little bigger and gets used to the college game, he will become a huge factor for our team. Hopefully Jeter can keep giving him some valuable minutes during the season, so that he can be that much more prepared to help our team next year. His athleticism and shooting ability, combined with a good basketball IQ will make Austin an exciting player to keep an eye on in these next couple of years
Joe Tagarelli:
One could argue that this kid has higher upside than anyone on the team combined, and make a strong argument as to why that is. After watching the scrimmage, I think it was obvious that he is easily one of the best rebounders on the team. He always was in the right position to get the defensive rebound, and his offensive resounding skills could be the most positive asset to his game. He seemed like he knew exactly where the ball was going to go after a shot was put up. You can definitely call him a recruiting steal, considering he's only a walk-on, and will most definitely redshirt this year. If he works on his offensive game as a whole, we could be looking at a big time player for us in the future, one that can rebound at will and has already proven to the coaches that he's willing to work his butt off.
Overall, I'm really excited for the future of Milwaukee basketball. Hopefully we can keep adding solid recruits, while also building on the underclassmen we currently have.
Thoughts anyone??
