More thoughts. 1. If we can't routinely sell out the KC, then the fundraising and argument for a new facility is lost. 2. This puts a lot of pressure on Coach Jeter. We have to win. No wins leads to #1 and further proves irrelevancy to alumni and students. 3. If this isn't temporary then we should consider stepping back to D2 or D3. +1 1. Bringing in 1800 fans per game will be a death trap. 2. If they don't reach the NCAAs within, I'd say, two seasons, it's going to be bad. 3. My prediction is that this will happen within five to seven years unless they can actually break ground on something new. The fans will not sit idly by.

It'll be humiliating if the KC isn't packed with students every game. No more using the inconvenience of the Cell as a scapegoat to sugarcoat piss-poor student support.

Pressure is on the marketing wing of the athletic department, too.
Going to have to sell hard to the students ("See, we're back on campus, so no more excuses") as well as the alums/general public ("We have plenty of parking and dining options within a short commute to the KC ... please disregard the sh*thole we are now playing in.").

I hope the UWM Ticket Office will do a open house. Let the season-ticket holders pick the seats they want pay and sit in for the season.

Two questions I'll have for now. Can I purchase a parking pass with my season tickets for guaranteed parking in the PAV? What will the cost be for season seats... I knew something was up. It's almost July and nothing in the mail about season-tickets for the 2012-13 season. I bet the prices will be in three price groups. Floor seats, chairbacks and bleacher seats. I would think the prices would be in the same ballpark as in the Cell.

The hardest sell will actually be the students, ironically. Despite free tickets and a short walk, I'd be surprised if numbers increased significantly. But they're the key. An excited student section livens up the atmosphere, which encourages higher alumni/season ticket holder attendance. For the life of me, I cannot understand why morale and school spirit have always been so damn low at this school.

I think the Bonecrushers are gone. Yes, we know. All these "great" tenants the Cell has/had, you'd think they would've done a bit more for the Panthers.

Rob Jeter, Levar Ridgeway, and Milwaukee Athletics have the most important season in quite some time ahead of them.
Gimbel is full of sh*t. Costello had told me several times that their discussion was going nowhere, that the WCD was refusing to work with them on lowering costs to us.
Truth is, Gimbel's right on one point. They are a public entity. Ownership of the arena should have been shifted from the state to the university, another entity of the state, before it came to this.
No more excuses.

This is an absolute disaster! It could only have been done for one of two reasons:
1. By necessity. The athletic department is in such bad shape that it had no choice or... 2. They actually thought this is a good idea.
Either reason is ridiculously bad!
The KC is nothing more than a glorified high school gym. If the intent is to draw students, it has already been proven that it won't work based on student crowds at games played at the KC over the past few years. Further to that, students don't even pay admission!
All it will do is drive away the casual fans (paying fans) who liked going downtown, getting something to eat and drink, and watching a game in a real arena. Since there is nothing to do around campus (sorry...the Gasthaus can't compete), they will stop coming. You already see it based on comments on this board. You can also forget about raising money to build a new arena because if you thought support was lacking before, wait until this year and beyond!
As much as I hate to say it, this could be the death blow for D1 UWM athletics. Very disappointing that the university does not want (or know how) to take athletics seriously.

I disagree that they don't know what needs to be done. But if people don't attend games, it's all for nothing. It's sad that this will indeed push fans away, even though it shouldn't. It should be about supporting the team, not boycotting because you don't like the facilities.
