I have seen a few places, the Jordan Aaron interview and then the recent post about Niang that the Panthers plan to adopt more of an uptempo style of play. Do we actually believe this, not questioning Jimmy's info, but more questioning if Jeter will really follow through with his plan or is just saying this to get recruits and possibly satisfy the fans. I hope it is true and I would love to see more of the way Milwaukee used to play under Pearl. This also begs another question, can you play up tempo and still run the swing?

It appears that Rob Jeter wants to pick up the pace and play a faster style in upcoming seasons. "Coach Jeter told me that they're going to change it up and try to play more of a fast-paced game coming up in the next couple years," said McWhorter.www.jsonline.com/sports/panthers/former-st-catherines-point-guard-joins-uwm-panthers-fc566bi-149171585.htmlFrom my understanding, the swing offense is a continuity motion offense that combines features of the flex and UCLA systems. In theory, the swing offense has a lot of the similar principles to the continuity motion offense that Pearl ran here, which was a modified flex offense. The main difference between Jeter’s teams the past couple years and Pearl’s teams (besides the wins and losses) has been the tempo, and defensive pressure. In order for Jeter’s teams to play a faster style, they really have to push the tempo, get out in transition, and apply more full court defensive pressure while converting turnovers and deflections into easy transition points. coachingbetterbball.blogspot.com/2007/10/wisconsin-swing-offense-breakdown.html

I certainly hope this is true. During the Pearl era, Milwaukee was by far the most exciting team to watch in WI.

Those are definitely legitimate concerns. The only time Jeter's program has really opened it up has been occasionally this past season at times (DePaul, home against CSU and Detroit).
I think that if the recruits are talking about it, they're hearing it from the assistants, who take their running orders from Jeter. Looking at the roster, we really only have a couple guys who are better in the half-court than up-tempo, so the team is really built differently than it ever has been.

During the Pearl era, Milwaukee was by far the most exciting team to watch in WI. As I see it, the excitement those teams delivered transcended borders.
