So, you suggest that the Horizon League had no chance at getting multiple bids in the coming season? A quick look at Butler, Valparaiso and UDM at the end of last season said otherwise.
Don't think for a second that the league wouldn't have benefited from having three at-large candidates for the NCAA tournament, even if one of them was leaving at the end of the year.
If Butler had knocked off, say, Marquette and another BCS team in Maui, IU in the Crossroads Classic and Gonzaga or Xavier, that would have helped every team in the league each time it defeated Butler, provided it did enough on its own in the non-conference season to merit inclusion in the field.
Instead, the league will carry little to no momentum into its 2013-14 reincarnation, assuming it fails to add a program the cailber of, say, Murray State or Drexel.
I see that you filed your post at 7 a.m.
Maybe you should have slept in.

Dylan, On one hand you seem to argue that the HL may have had three legitimate at large contenders (now two I guess) coming season, on the other hand you seem to suggest that "the league will carry little to no momentum" heading into the 2013-14 season. Aren't you inconsistent here?

Dylan, On one hand you seem to argue that the HL may have had three legitimate at large contenders (now two I guess) coming season, on the other hand you seem to suggest that "the league will carry little to no momentum" heading into the 2013-14 season. Aren't you inconsistent here? Nope. The biggest boat lifts all the boats in the harbor. Think of the smaller boats benefiting from the biggest boat's horsepower. Butler's non-conference wins have always been of great advantage to this league's other members; unfortunately, the members haven't often capitalized on this advantage. An NCAA tournament run by either of the two remaining so-called powers would have lent the league some much-needed positive momentum heading into the 2013-14 season. As things stand, it's hard to make that run from a No. 14 or 15 seed. Obviously, I'm expecting this to be a one-bid conference for the foreseeable future, provided a program of Murray State's caliber isn't added for 2013-14.

Looking at UIC's schedule for this upcoming season, it looks like the HL went away from the travel partners and Thur/Sat format as well.

I must say...it's nice to finally be able to host a couple home games in late February.

Kevin O'Connor just tweeted, "#UWM men's basketball schedule continues to come together. Looking like home gms with Manhattan and Tenn Tech just about confirmed."

We still have "a couple of openings" according to O'Connor regarding the schedule.

Manhattan won 21 games and played in the CIT last year. Tennessee Tech won 19 games. They played Murray State real tough in two of their three meetings last season. Both teams have made enough noise in recent years to bring intrigue to the Klotsche and boost attendance for our home non-conference games... Hopefully

Does anyone know if the BracketBuster is a home or on the road this season for the Panthers? Please don't give the answer it's on the road because they were at home last season. I don't do twitter, someone needs to tell Kevin to keep the updates coming.

Two solid schedule additions! Let's hope enough casual basketball fans will recognize the teams, know they are quality opponents and come down to the KC.

Last year, the Panthers played four non-conference home games against full-fledged Division 1 competition -- IUPUI, Texas Southern, Wisconsin and Fairfield.
It appears as though they've at least equalled the number this year.
I wasn't expecting much in the scheduling department, so I'll take it.
