I'm not sure why I even bothered to look. I guess I had a couple of minutes here at work and thought I'd give it one more look. But this is just one more reason why I do not read anything the JS puts out anymore. www.jsonline.com/sports/panthers/Check out the description under the picture: "UWM's Vashil Fernandez moves away from the pack to corral a loose ball." Need I say more? It might be an AP wire picture, but com'on. Our very own newspaper couldn't see that and change it? Nice.

WOW what a joke. Also I have noticed on the small advertisements that they have on some of the pages that the YSU game is on a Saturday at 1pm. I don't know if thats our fault or there's but its definitely terrible on whoever that falls on.

Do you need any more evidence that our best course of action is to pool resources so I can afford to work as a beat writer through PantherU?
I can't do it as it stands right now - I can't afford to. But I will make a humble promise that if the Panther community can come together and make it worth my time, I'll make the current version of PantherU look like the @mkepanthers twitter feed.

BTW, still not fixed.
What makes it even worse is while Vashil Fernandez is on Valpo's official roster, he has not played all year, nor was he even in the building.

They charge for online where I can get it for free. I dont waste my money on the paper. I could care less about what write up we get and dont get.
JS...who?

UWM has to play exciting basketball and get to the NCAA tournament occasionally to get coverage. Right now we are not doing either. Its droughts like what we are going through right now that kill our coverage every year.
Its no different for a school, politician, concert, event, business, park, restaurant, or neighborhood -- you'll get coverage with wins, attendance, and relevance. We don't apply in any of those categories right now.
Why should we put our efforts and money into PantherU? Blackpanther made a great site that I visit often, and its a great additional resource for panther fans, but it wont help us build our audience. All resources need to go directly to the athletic fund.
Adios,
Debby Downer

Still, there should have been a preview of today's Milwaukee-Green Bay game ...
... and they really need to get those standings in order.

Whatever. The Journal Sentinel is really trying these days. Not only have our game results appeared on the NewsWatch feed for the first time, but the headline on the website currently reads "Badgers, Eagles fall; Panthers triumph." D'Amato is a halfass writer, but the JS is doing much better than they used to.

-- you'll get coverage with wins, attendance, and relevance. We don't apply in any of those categories right now. They had their biggest HL regular season home crowd versus Butler in over 6 years, with 6,000+ and two days later had 5,000+ versus Valpo.

The Valpo crowd was a UICesque audience (if you know what I mean), so take that with a grain of salt.

The idea that the Panthers have to "earn" coverage is complete bullsh*t. As a Division I program, they should be covered. Simple as that.
When MU went through their long stretches of ho-hum seasons, did they lose coverage? Did the Badgers for the 50 years before their Final Four?
If Marquette goes to the Final Four this year, does that warrant them receiving more coverage next season?
The Panthers play for wins and losses, not coverage. They don't need to worry about the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel doing their f***ing jobs.

Correct, like girls high school volleyball "earns coverage."
