Congratulations to Coach Henschel.
Has anyone heard anything about the 2012 recruiting class? Are they all still headed to Milwaukee?
Go, Panthers!!

haven't heard, but i'm pretty sure that they'll stay committed...even after coaching changes, it's pretty rare to see recruits change commitments in women's soccer...particularly when they're not at an elite level

Are you serious? That's all the AD could find for a program that was nationally ranked with All American calibre players. A guy who coached the women and mens team and in his spare time, made sure the turf was watered?

A couple of issues. 1. This is not what a ranked team does. If you are one of the best programs in the nation, you go out and get a coach deserving of that ranking. 2. As for recruits I would be would be worried because the former coaching staff didn't move cross country, they are a stones throw away at an elite university in a major conference. 3. Was this hire better than keeping Nikolic? No, not even close.

Good hire if we were Parkside.
Hopefully he can make the jump to D1 like Bo Ryan did. And stay.
Welcome and good luck coach.

I would have tried to shoot higher. Perhaps taken a coach from a lower level D-I program.
Thems the bricks. Our athletic department let the perfect replacement up and walk away with Michael.

I have no idea what kind of Division 1 coach Henschel is going to be.
He could be Bo Ryan or Dick Bennett ... and he could be Gerry Faust.
Frankly, I don't know that there's a formula for finding the right coach.

Frankly, I don't know that there's a formula for finding the right coach. Rick Costello made the choice. Presumably he felt that Henschel's record at Whitewater was a good indicator that he could be a successful D1 coach, and that none of the other candidates, whoever they might have been, was a better choice.
As always, we'll find out in a few years whether or not Costello was right.

I'd be very interested to learn who we all talked to and how he was selected as the best candidate for the job. It was definitely Ricks decision and its far to early to know if it was a good one. I'd be interested to know how much hiring Ricks done in his previous positions also.

As always, we'll find out in a few years whether or not Costello was right. I don't need a few years. He was wrong the moment David Nikolic was announced as an assistant at Northwestern. And he had a chance to make it right by going and getting him back. To completely ignore everything that David did for this university - his alma mater - for well over a decade...it gives the perception that our leader has no care for anything that happened here before he got here. That perception will hurt in future hires.

I agree with Jimmy. David was the guy.

I agree with Jimmy. David was the guy. There's no doubt about it. If the Athletic Department chose not to interview him, then obviously there was a question. You have every right to disagree with the answer, as you are doing.

What was that guy "yelling" about when they were introducing the new soccer coach at the game last night?
