A break from the YSU game...
Watched King vs. Hamilton on Time Warner Sports as I watched the Panthers. A lot of UWM connections:
Deion James on the bench for Hamilton.
Marc Mitchell on the bench for King.
Shannon Smith announcing with Bob Brainerd.
Pretty large UWM banner in the gym (do all MPS school have this?).
A few guys on the court would look good in a Milwaukee uniform including Austin Malone-Mitchell.
Go Panthers!

Damn, Marc Mitchell stays busy... last I heard he was running a team from the fake ABA out of the gym at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Although as a Washington alum, I feel a little betrayed to find out the greatest Purgolder of my lifetime is coaching at f***ing King! That's like our version of Brett Favre playing for the Vikings.

ilwauk, you must be very young!
Now don't get me wrong -- I love Marc Mitchell, but when I remember great Purgolders I think of Brian Garner, Calvin Rayford and Dean Marquardt. Some great players came out of that program back in the day.

I guess I'm not up on the history of Milwaukee Washington but I'm surprised you list him as the best of your lifetime. I remember watching Calvin Rayford, who was one of the four McDonalds AA ever from the state of Wisconsin, at the state tourney back in the day. Silas Mills was on that team as well and he had a nice career at Utah State.

I honestly meant to say Mitchell was ONE OF the greatest Purgolders of my lifetime, but I can't say I'm sorry for sparking a debate that's bringing up so many of the great names who've played at Washington over the years. I never would've guessed we had so many knowledgeable people here!
I guess I have a soft spot for Mitchell because I saw him (and Calvin Rayford) play my first time at the Fieldhouse and he went on to play for the Panthers, but I think it's damn near impossible to single out one Purgolder as the greatest.
