it seems like we always kick it into a high gear when this thread shows up, and with a couple big conference games coming up next weekend i figure this is as good of a time as any to start playing better...
with that said, FIRE JETER, HIRE KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR!

Actually, the offense worked to perfection all game Thursday ...
... right up to the point at which the ball left the hands of our shooters.
Then it all went poof.
By the way, this is as good a time as any to count the many blessings in our program. Merry Christmas, everybody!

If this is the annual thread that kick starts the team to a strong finish, then Fran needs to take an extended leave of absence because some have taken leave of their senses.

Sorry Hack -- thanks to the fact that we have finally broken the pattern of mystifying early season losses in games we think we should win, no one has let loose the crazy this year. So I'm still here. Let's hope we don't need any such dramatics the rest of the season, either. I really like this team. It defends and it's tough. That gives us a chance in every game. I think Valpo, Butler, CSU and Detroit can all make it interesting, but I'll take our chances. Let's have some fun.

On the morning of the 2010 national championship game, a caller to the Dan Patrick Show crowed, "So, does Duke win the game tonight by 30 or 40?"
Dan responded: "No. Butler is built to lose by less than 10, if at all."
With defense, you always have a chance to win. This is a great identity for us. Let's ride it all the way to a Horizon League championship.

I agree that it’s going to be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to fire Jeter because of his remaining contract. It seems that the only way Jeter leaves the program is by his own accord. I think there are two scenarios in which Jeter would leave voluntarily that would work out positively for both Jeter and the Milwaukee basketball program. - Jeter gets offered a head coaching position at another school and takes the offer. He had a decent amount of interest from various schools after last year, and hopefully the team can finish the season strong, so that he can parlay that to another offer. He probably won’t get a high major offer this time around. Although the Nebraska job might be vacant and the Huskers might be interested in a coach with head coaching experience with solid Midwest connections now that they are in the Big Ten.
- Jeter voluntary resigns and either becomes a lead assistant coach at a BCS program or becomes a television analyst. Jeter has a lot of good experience and I’m sure he would be a leading candidate for a lot of high profile assistant coaching positions throughout the country and specifically in the Midwest. If all else fails I’m sure Bo would love to have him back on his bench.
I appreciate that Coach Jeter is running a clean program and has laid a nice foundation for the program as well. I think after seven years as head coach, it’s time for both parties to move on. I would love to see another head coach come in and build on the foundation that Jeter has built here and take the program to a better, more exciting level.
