Our strange, lovey relationship with Northwestern continues/gets more complicated

Wow, shocking and kind of sad news. While the program will miss Mike dearly, it's at a level that is sure to attract a fine new head coach. I just hope the student athletes currently playing and about to play stay on board. This team has tremendous young talent.

Shocking that Nikolic is going with him. He's going to make a great head coach some day.

I bleed purple but I am not happy about this. I love Milwaukee soccer. I love successful Milwaukee soccer. Here's to the women's program staying strong.
Good luck Coach!

This is very sad news. It's beginning to seem like a distant memory when I was a student at UWM and we were absolutely dominant at just about everything. I hope the program doesn't collapse because of this.
Northwestern just got an amazing coach. Best of luck to him. Good thing I'm not a fan of Wisconsin women's soccer.

I was floored by this, but not immediately. When I heard that Mike was headed to Northwestern, I thought "finally David has his chance." When I heard David was gone too...this is a nightmare scenario for the program.
We are a very good program and we will attract a great coach, but we had the PERFECT coach and the PERFECT associate head coach.
I sincerely hope they do well at Northwestern. I just hope they can end Penn State's run of Big Ten Championships before their void ends our run of Horizon League Championships.

It's surprising to me that Coach Moynihan didn't get hired away sooner, given his record with the program. The numbers are so gaudy he had to be on the radar for coaching vacancies at high major programs.
Perhaps he felt that after coaching Sarah Hagen for four years, the program wasn't going to keep getting better
Best of luck to him at Northwestern. And best of luck to Rick Costello and the Athletics department as they begin the search for a successor.

anyone know what happened that he would decide to leave now? I mean it would be hard to believe that there were no offers to leave before to go somewhere else so why now? Just seems odd and losing David is gonna make it hard to continue the success right away I think as well.
Best of luck to both, never had a bad interaction with either one of those guys, class acts all the way for sure. Thanks for all that you did for Milwaukee soccer Coach!

Still stunned.
Farewell, old friends.
What did Mike and Dave mean to the program? They went 77-4-3 against league opponents over 18 years.
Not likely to be duplicated.

As sad as this is, I did get a laugh out of the situation.
Yesterday, I tweeted at Nick Brilowski in their AD to please ask us if they want to take our coaches (playfully of course). His response:
"@pantheru Thanks for letting us have him! This officially completes the Ed McCants trade."
Boom.
