UWM Student Association comes through for Milwaukee AthleticsThis is huge, huge news for the Panthers. The additional money blows away what our program currently gets from students, and it's going to wipe out the debt much quicker than previously planned. Rick Costello and his crew deserve a HUGE round of applause.

YES!
Holy crap that is like a fricking early Christmas present in the biggest way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a huge turn from their threatening to try and push to move us to a Division II athletics program just what a year or two ago? Wonderful glad to see someone got through there and was able to talk sense to others!

Lol, earlier this semester they denied the athletic department's request for a $3 increase in segregated fees after verbally assuring Costello it would happen.

The Athletics portion of the segregated fees appears to me to apply to all students who pay seg fees, when you look at the Spring fee table: www4.uwm.edu/bfs/depts/bursar/tuition/spring-2012-seg-fees.cfm
Some categories of seg fee are prorated according to your credit load, but athletics appears to be the same for everyone. So Jimmy's calculation appears to understate how much additional money the AD will get, unless there is a sharp drop-off in enrollment.

This is awesome news. When I was there (1991-95 and 98-00) the SA was all about the members and their pet projects. It was a bunch of arrogant, self-important wanna-bees who were using this as a bank for their friends campus groups.

It's no different at UWM today; it just happens that some of the pet projects happen to align themselves with the interests of people on this board
