Not hard to figure out that first half.
Defense was fine.
UNI plays better half court defense than DePaul. Open looks are not there. Have to figure that out and make some 3's.

7 Point game with just over 10 to go.
Big moment in this game if we wanna pull it out!

A game I really want to just forget about.
If we play like this Tuesday we will be run out of the gym and can forget about beating Wisky or MU this season.

Just saw the score. I would've thought the DePaul win would have taught us that a more up-tempo, controlled transition type game is one where we get better, higher percentage looks. Guess not. And if we play the Badgers like we have in the past, ie throwing the ball around for 30 seconds before forcing up a terrible shot, the result will be much like we saw today.

Tony Meier and Paris Gulley shot for a combined 0-7 from 3. Sounds like that whole reversion to the mean dilemma....

Just got back from Cedar Falls. Reactions:
Iowa is long, straight, flat and dull as all hell. I've always heard that, but it really strikes you when you go through it. Especially after beautiful Southwest Wisconsin. The campus/city itself was nice, however smaller than I expected.
The arena is something we should look at with our own. It resembles a larger version of the Al. When you walk through the doors, you are right there on the concourse. I do think there should be a second set of doors, since when a door was opened as people started to leave, the sun's reflection glared off the court. Opposite the student section is a party suite, that seemed to have food and beverages included. That really impressed me. If we tweek that a bit and make that into a bar and grill open to the public before and after games, it'd be awesome. Maybe even have one of each.
The students performed the dance that was posted in this thread already. It wasn't really my cup of tea, but hey they were having fun and it pumped everyone up. To each his own. As for the game, shots didn't fall in the first half (missing Ja'Rob?), our lack of post presence showed at times too. LOVED the hussle Kelm showed diving after a loose ball. Besides that, UNI did everything you'd want to see. Nailed FTs, worked the ball around, played tight D, etc. We got hosed on some calls, but...meh. That didn't change the outcome.
UNI is a very good team, and we went at them at their place without one of our best players. Hopefully he's back for Madison.

Playing on the road is tough. Its difficult for us to put 2 good offensive games together against good competition at home....so back to back on the road? ? I'm not surprised. I miss having the shooters we had during the Pearl days. Lets beat the Badgers!

Man, this game was painful to watch. We were right there within 8-10 points for most the game and one run would have taken us the lead or tied it. The run just never happened. Few things: 1) Kaylon had way too many turnovers, hopefully he got that game out of the way and he takes care of the ball alot better vs UW's stingy defense 2) Defense wasn't that bad, many times we were right there to get a steal and the ball bounced the other way or we got a block but it came right back to UNI for an easy basket. 3) WE NEED TO MAKE SHOTS (obvious) and have more than 2 people score especially in the first half. 4) Finally, I was expecting a hostile crowd...but it never really got that loud, so I don't think that really affected us.
UNI is a good team and we had an off game. Even with our bad shooting...we were still in the game pretty late because of our defense. Shake this one off and lets go upset the Badgers on our home court!

I'll just say this about the game for now:
The game got off the rails when Kyle exited for about five minutes with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. He really has grown into a very good all-around player.
It really was more of an eight-point game and I love the way the team competed, including Kyle's headlong dive to a loose ball at midcourt that led to the injury. The defense was clearly in place to win the game until the last seven or so possessions. No shame in this one, folks.
Just as the team couldn't lose when Paris and Tony combined to go 14 of 17 against DePaul, it had no chance to win when the tandem combined to go 1 of 11 against UNI. That was the difference of 36 points from 87 to 51 right there. Kaylon, who was far too loose with the ball, would have still had 11 or 12 assists had anyone other than Kyle been hitting.

Stats don't lie! 15-6 in turnovers on the road, is not going to get it done. More points were scored from the free-throw line and three, for UNI.
Other than DePaul, the Panthers are having a hard time scoring this season. I would think the team and fan base will be ready for Tuesday night!

Ugh. I assume you'll have an earbud in with Bill Johnson's broadcast? And a PEZ dispenser on his girlfriend's leg. LOVE the Seinfeld reference!
