All that matters is that we have a legitimate shot with our home domination of Chicago to start the season 7-1.

No, not whatever. If you can't make field goals, you have to make up for it at the free throw line. They were on fire from three tonight. You are not going to make 12 three pointers every game. They leave too many free points on the line every game. This will come back and cost them a game if its not worked on.

I'll take a 1-1 split on this road trip and a 5-1 start to the season. Always feels good to win one away from home.
Look forward to some early conference play this week.

Well, I had this one as a loss. Decent win. I'm not comfortable with relying so much on threes, but as long as they are falling, I can't complain too much.

I agree with you DKelly, the free throw problem has gotten quite old.

Nice Win!
Why is Evan not in the game when all the Panthers need to do is hit free-throws?

Free throws have been an issue for several years with this program, even with Pearl's teams.
I don't understand why.

Considering Jeter's record of improvement as the year goes by, corrections will undoubtedly be made, and we're still playing shorthanded as it is. And also we are 5-1.

And agreed about free throws. It's ridiculous to shrug your shoulders at what's proven to be a problem for this program for... what feels like a number of years. They matter, especially in the tight games. They also matter when you execute a true swing offense. You know, make more free throws than the other team attempts? Gotta tighten it up.
Again, good win over what will likely prove to be a pretty good opponent.

Free throw deficiencies can be chalked up to recruiting. When you recruit on upside that's what happens. And besides, as someone point out earlier in the year, our free throw shooting has not been as bad as people think.

Boudreau said it best:
"This is a game that we would've stubbed our toe on in the past."

I don't think it's unreasonable to point out problem areas that are seemingly popping up every game (and season). The fact is that if they don't start making them more consistently, it will come back to cost them a win (or more).

The biggest thing I have taken away from these first six games is that they've learned how to win without Tony Meier (and others being out like Kaylon, Lonnie and Christian). With Tony probably playing Thursday, hopefully they continue finding ways to win.

I'm not in the business of picking nit on wins, especially when they're far away from home coming off an emotional respect-seeking performance against a high major team.
