Haarsma has a double-double and has taken 3 charges. Not bad, but he needs more from his teammates. He needs to grow about 3 inches too. Ghostofdylan is 100% right... I love James' game, but his lack of height hurts him offensively in my opinion... What post player in the nation isn't hurt by their "lack of height" ? To put it another way, what player wouldn't benefit from an extra 3 inches?

I had a choppy feed and an eye on the Packer game, so I'm unable to give any sort of in depth or worthwhile analysis. I will say this though, winning on the road in college bball is hard no matter who the opponent. I'll take an ugly win over a beautiful loss (does that exist?) any day.
We're going to see some growing pains early on as the new faces adapt and the team starts to find an identity.
Look forward to finally seeing this team in action at home on Friday night.

I will say I am very happy with our defense. I think that alone can keep us in a lot of ball games this year.
That being said defensive teams HAVE to hit their freaking free throws.
Hopefully the offense shows up soon so we don't have to sweat out every game like this.

Our free throw performance today is historically anomalous. That said, Ryan Allen is a game-changer this season.

What do you think is going to happen when he goes up against Butler or Detroit's front line and length? Fundamentally, he's one of the best rebounders I've ever seen, but he has played against SMSU and NIU... They have no height whatsoever...

He averaged 7.1 rebounds per game two years ago. There is historical precedent for his rebounding. It's not complicated. James Haarsma could average a double-double this year and we'd still have people doubting him.

I'm not worried about James, through 2 games he is almost 40% of our rebounding. I am confident he will continue to rebound at a solid rate. Our other bigs are the ones who need to step it up in the rebounding department. Tonight Kelm, Hags and Harris combined 3 rebounds in their combined 41 minutes.

A 6'5" 4-man is a big problem when your 5 is a 6'9" guy who hangs around the perimeter...

But on defense the 5 will most likely be in the low post guarding their man so they should be down low for defensive rebounding. Is your concern offensive or defensive rebounding?

What if Butler and Detroit's front line put James into check?? Aren't there 4 other Panthers on the floor who can contribute, or are they all too short for their respective positions as well? I definitely do not expect James to routinely put up double-doubles against the conference elite. But I think to dismiss or invalidate the contributions he will give us in all of the other games he plays for us because he's "too short" is a bit silly.

Missed the game because I was at work, but it sounds like this game was not pretty....but I will take a win either way. Did we get the ball inside on offense or was it like Saturday where we just dribbled around the top and took some random half open shot?
Looks like James and Ja'rob had another good game and Kaylon came back with his normal line of filling up the stat sheet along with a high number of turnovers. Glad we got the win and now on to the next one.

I'm not trying to disrespect James, because I LOVE his game. My concern is for the team if we can't figure out how to run an offense without a post game to go through. You won't be able to run your offense through James against bigger teams. Time will tell. I hope we can figure it out...
