Rumor has it that Tom Enlund won't be the Milwaukee "beat" reporter for the coming season.
Instead, he'll be switched to the Marquette beat in place of Todd Rosiak.
Say what you will about the offseason coverage of Rob Jeter's various coaching courtships, but Tom did an excellent job during the season, fighting to get every single conference game covered.
A few years ago, Tom was genuinely excited about the prospects of Milwaukee playing in a postseason tournament like the CIT.
If the rumor is true, this move continues the pattern of the J-S preventing reporters from covering the Panthers for more than two seasons in a row.
Don't want them to become advocates for the program, after all.

Not a rumor. Confirmed by Rosiak on Twitter. Marquette beat is going to miss him, but dude needs a break after covering baseball since the end of the NCAAs.
Enlund will have to step it up in the blogging department (i.e. start doing it), and who knows if he'll get on Twitter.

Tom did a great job last year. I will miss him and the Marquette fans should be happy to have him. Of course, they aren't, because they know that Todd Rosiak was basically serving as the Minister of Propaganda in the Wells Street Bunker, and they are extremely fearful that Enlund might actually be an objective reporter. That's a dangerous thing on that campus. Any word on who gets the Milwaukee beat?

Todd told me on Twitter that it will likely be a group job at first. He agreed with me that we need someone to be "the guy" all season long so their stories are more well informed and follow a pattern.
A good beat writer tells a story over the entire season, and I just shudder to think the game-to-game coverage if it goes from Lori Nickel at SWMSU to a stringer at NIU to Gary D'Amato for IUPUI to Charlie Gardner at Texas Southern. They're all good writers in their own right, but not when they're jerked around.
I also wonder whether Charlie G would look down his nose at covering the Panthers while the superior NBA is on hiatus.
You know the alternative, guys - news from PantherU!

Marquette fans wouldn't know if he is the MU beat writer, because he hasn't done crap yet. Media day was on Friday and there wasn't sh*t on it.
I like Tom covering the Panthers, it's like we had a pattern going in the reading and now that will be gone.

Per an insider, Milwaukee's "beat" reporter will be ...
Lori Nickel, Gary D'Amato and Tom Enlund.
You might remember Lori and Gary as co-authors of the world-famous "Party's Over" story.
Reportedly, Michael Cunningham, Bobbi Roquemore and Tom Flaherty were unavailable.

If D'Amato or Nickel show up, I will be calling down "But why are you here? I thought the party was over?!" from above.

According to a very reliable source, we're going from having 12 road games covered by a J-S reporter a year ago to one (Marquette).
The rest, I suppose, will be covered on either a freelance basis or with an in-house missive.
