I thought this was going to be about a George Michael song, so I almost skipped reading it. Glad I didn't. That was a well-written article.

Just want to mention this as well, Jimmy. My first year being a UWM student (2007-08), I remember the whole Flowers-and-Johnson fiasco and I remember distinctly thinking, "This season is about to go into the deepest crap-hole I have ever seen" Seeing Jeter bring that season back to a respectable 14-17 had me sold that the man knew how to build and run a program.
Having him back to lead this team for hopefully many more years to come makes me proud to be a student of this school and a fan of this team.
Thank you for staying, Robbie!

And the funny thing about that team is that they could have done real damage in the Horizon League tournament had Marcus Skinner been healthy. The 9-of-10 winning streak in the middle of that year is one of the most impressive I've ever seen, because in addition to losing Flowers and the Johnsons, they also lost:
Roman Gentry, Iowa Class 4A Player of the Year (personal reasons) Avery Smith, returning leading scorer (suspension) Derrick Ford, true center, shot blocker extraordinaire (academic ineligibility)
Imagine if all those players were on and committed to that team when the wheels started to turn in the second half of the year. That is what Rob Jeter was facing when he somehow magically engineered a 9-9 conference record. Anyone who says Jeter can't coach is a moron.

Jimmy,
That was a well written and passionate display of Panther pride. You are certainly one of our leaders when it comes to that. Cheers!

... because in addition to losing Flowers and the Johnsons, they also lost: Derrick Ford, true center, shot blocker extraordinaire (academic ineligibility) I am not sure who you are thinking of, but Derrick Ford can't be right. He was a CC transfer and played two seasons at Milwaukee, thus exhausting his eligibility.

Derrick didn't graduate when his eligibility was done, but Hans is right - Ford's eligibility was finished when Florida beat us.
