For those of you who are students I would like to say thanks for the overwhelming showing the last two games. It actually felt like a college atmosphere for the first time in several years. Thanks for showing up and showing your support. What you brought to the Cell the last two games in what college basketball is all about... Thanks and AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment.
And here's from the students to you, Maverick.
Get lost. You're the opposite of a front runner; you're on this board only to sh*t on the program, then when we start winning, you're a ghost.
We met in person. You seemed nice. But your complete lack of respect for the job this coaching staff has done is beyond forgivable. You have never cared for this coaching staff or even hoped they do well as the leaders of your team.
I'm not against critics, but you take the cake with your grotesque lack of knowledge about the program and consistent criticism only to magically disappear when you're proven wrong time and time again.
Freak may have changed his avatar to Debbie Downer because of something I said a couple years ago, but you're the real Debbie Downer. If this season isn't good enough for you - more D-I wins than last year, better conference record, CONFERENCE f***ING CHAMPIONSHIP, championship game appearance - then you need to find another program to put your cancer on.
We're hanging banners next year, pal, and you can wipe your tears on them because Bruce Pearl had nothing to do with these.
I don't like alienating fans, but you have made no attempt to cop up to ANYTHING you have ever said, you only come on to drone on about your "Fire Jeter" argument that gets more and more moronic by the day.
Piss off.

Jeez BP. I'll be honest and say I don't know much about Maverick as I have never met him but dang did he touch a nerve with you. If he is as bad as you say he is then I would have no problem with him leaving but wow its not often we see this side of you on this board

Jimmy isn't a guy who suffers foolishness easily.
And really, how slim is it for maverick to disappear throughout an amazing run to the championship and then come back after this loss and start his act again? maverick, you've lost. You've been proved completely, entirely, absolutely wrong. That's not my opinion -- that's fact. There were 10,000 people at the Cell yesterday celebrating this team. Couldn't have happened unless you were completely, entirely, absolutely wrong. The banner that will get hung next year might as well have a subtitle under "HORIZON LEAGUE CHAMPIONS" that says "a/k/a maverick was wrong" You know how occasionally you get into an argument with your wife or roommate about how she moved your keys and now you can't find them? And you are absolutely convinced she did -- until you find them in your coat pocket, where you left them. That's where you are. You were wrong. Not as a matter of opinion, but of empirical fact. Accept it and move on.
But no hard feelings. You can still get on the Panther bus. Just open your eyes a little.

It was pretty easy to see last night who the real students that support the team were and the ones that went to be apart of the "cool crowd."
As a season-ticket holder that has been to every Panther game this season, there were many fun games to watch this season. (UNI, MU, Detroit, Wright State, Valpo)
So I hope many of those students come back to the Cell, next season.

Jimmy, Alittle uncalled for man......
We all listen to all the bull sh*t you spew over and over again....When you dont like something someone says we all hear about it over and over again....some of us dont have jobs or lives that evolve around this site and cant be on it 24/7 like it appears you are.....
Ive never met you in person, but i do remember when i worked for the event staff having to clean up your mess when you couldn't handle your alcohol a few years ago at a game and puked all over the floor at women's basketball game....a complete disrespectful act if you ask me.....
The guy gave a compliment about the turn out for a game, something that we can all agree upon has been lacking....sometimes i feel like you think you run this board and need to give people a break..this board is an outlet for fans to express their opinions (good or bad), whether you like it or not....we all understand you bleed black and yellow, but if we all kissed as much ass this board wouldn't be what it is....
i don't say much on here, and when i do i back stuff up with facts......but to tell someone to piss off and get lost is uncalled for man....set a better example for the panther fans....if you had as much confidence in this team you wouldn't let someones uneducated remarks get to you like you do...

....if you had as much confidence in this team you wouldn't let someones uneducated remarks get to you like you do... Jimmy does let maverick's ignorant posts get to him way too much, but that can happen when someone feels so incredibly passionate about something, as I know first hand. And FYI pnthr2bag, you are being INCREDIBLY hypocritical telling Jimmy his post was uncalled for, considering what you said about Jimmy in yours was arguably even more personal than anything he said about maverick. And for the record, many might not like what Jimmy wrote (or how he wrote it) re:maverick, but 100% of it was true.

And I sure appreciate that one poor night from when I was 18 years old being drug up for everyone to see. Usually I like being the one to tell that story - I can control who hears it. I had the great pleasure of meeting JJ Panoske's father last night, who told me he loves reading PantherU and following the discussion board. Thank you for letting him know about my night of over-the-top drinking at a women's basketball game when I was a freshman.
I don't run this board; the discussion has been driven by guys like SuperKing and KRaw for awhile now.
From what's being said here, I reacted far too harshly to Maverick. I'm sorry - I exhibited the worst hypocrisy last night by turning away a fan when I should have just said thanks and asked if he'd like to extend that congratulations to someone else. I took it out my frustrations from last night on you, Maverick, and for that I'm sorry.
But 2bag - go read through Maverick's posts. You'll see where I'm coming from.

Thanks for the compliment. We're hanging banners next year, pal, and you can wipe your tears on them because Bruce Pearl had nothing to do with these. You must have been blindfolded that entire championship game. Our entire offense revolves around getting Hill the ball. So, unless we actually happen to recruit someone who can play with their back to the basket worth a sh*t, I'd say we're pretty much screwed. And that's not even mentioning the fact that we're losing Boyle as well. Really? A banner next year? Really? You may suffer from, "Type before I think about it" syndrome.

No, I mean we'll be hanging banners next year that will honor this year's team.
As in, the 2010-11 Regular Season Championship and 2011 NIT banners...
It's not like we're gonna send a couple events guys in the dead of summer to the Cell to hang the new banners.

I believe this thread is called "Thanks Students", so let thank the students who came out in large numbers tuesday night.
Let's also thank everyone who contributed to the great atmosphere.
Big thanks to the athletic department for doing this championship tournament justice, by providing effective publicity and advertising around campus.
Thanks to University Housing service desk workers, who are already super busy, for selling tickets to the game.
Thank you University Housing security and cafe staff workers for passing out game flyers.
Thank you Resident Assistants who promoted the games to the residents.
Thanks to the alumni for your long time support.
Thanks to the all University staffs who canceled night classes so their students could enjoy the game.
Thanks to all the community members who came to the game or at least watched the game on TV.
Thanks to NICHOLAS CO and ANDREW and other sponsors for providing free t-shirts to the students
Thank you Milwaukee Journal and local media for all the positive build up to the game.
Thanks to the Architecture department for allowing the students to print off giant anthony hill head.
Thanks to all the student section leaders who have been coming to the games all year.
UW-Milwaukee success comes from the campus and community support for one another.

Yeah.... that's what you meant ...... Look, maverick, lay the sarcasm on as thick as you want, here's the truth: If I really meant that about winning a lot next year, would I not mention hanging up banners this year as well? Since they absolutely, 100% are happening, wouldn't I have added that in there as well if, as you suspect, I was talking about hanging banners in expectation of winning more conference titles and making more postseason tournaments?

So, unless we actually happen to recruit someone who can play with their back to the basket worth a sh*t, I'd say we're pretty much screwed. And that's not even mentioning the fact that we're losing Boyle as well. This proves you don't follow the program much, which is okay. There are incoming recruits and some returning players that have the ability to play with their back to the basket, so were not screwed. As for Boyle...he's a heckuva shooter when nobody is within 3 ft. of him. He's an average defender and by all evidence, a good teammate, but he is a streaky shooter, who jacks up his shot too quickly most of the time. He rarely handles the ball which is purposeful because quite frankly he can't. And he can't create space and/or drive to the bucket to save his (or his team's) ass and ultimately was a non-factor in Tuesday's game. Again, proves that you don't follow the team and/or know much about basketball. It's okay though...we'll help you through it.
