In light of Jason Averkamp playing so well lately and rapidly becoming a fan favorite, I wonder if there's any interest in temporarily dubbing a small part of the student section - say between the band and the bench - as KAMP TOWN?
I could see this getting some legs if he continues to play the way he has recently.
Does anyone from the band still come here? How hard would it be for the band to learn Camptown Races? Would a theme song for a particular player ever be considered?
OK, just a thought.

ghola that sounds like a FANTASTIC idea.
He's such a good kid, and that would be fun for him and the team.
Hope that can be done.

who wrote camptown races? could give it a listen and see if it could work. individual theme songs, maybe, i don't think we've ever done that before. if the song is cool and can be arranged well it might work out. the only thing is that i see as an obstacle is will the song sound good after Kamp graduates.
but as for Kamp-Town the place.... i love it

It's an American Folk Song by Stephen Foster. Here's the Wikipedia link - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camptown_Races - info found here should earn extra credit with Professor Will Schmid

Now how are we going to do this...should we get some kind of sign to hang on the line? We could make a stand or something, then make t-shirts for whoever wants them...I'm starting to go a little far with it.

if it catches on, instead of the whole band learning the whole song, how about if one instrument section plays the melody from the first line of the chorus (bet my money on the bob-tail nag) and then stops and the whole band and the students shout out the part from Black Panther's post - OH DE DOO DAH DAY! That would be a quick simple little bit, and I bet anybody in the band could learn to play that part by ear in a couple of minutes.

The fans love Avercamp. He rode the bench, believed in himself and now it's paying off.
