For the charging calls at the end, I think they were good calls. I was watching on TV and they had some pretty good views. I think it was Ant on the first one, he was planted pretty good to draw the charge. For the second, there was clearly some 'leading with the elbow' to clear out some space by the WS player that led to that call. The other call near the end that worked against Milwaukee was that 'over and back' that should have been called. T hat one was clearly off the WS player's foot on the replay. I only saw parts of this game but I didn't think the calls were slighted one way or the other. Even so, if you'll recall, that possession was quickly ended seconds later with what else, a charge by Evans. The charges were definitely charges. Hill played beautiful defense. And honestly, those were some of the only close plays the officials got right.

As of this morning, the Panthers are 3-2 against the RPI top 50.
In the glory years of 2002-03 through 05-06, the Panthers won a total of three games against the RPI top 50 (all in the NCAAs).
Absolutely amazing.

I sure as hell know I would not be.

And honestly, those were some of the only close plays the officials got right. Not trying to beat a dead horse. Congrats on the win. But the Hill charge specifically was the worst of them. It can clearly be seen on replay at horizonleague.org, Hill was moving towards Clark the entire time when they collided, then he flopped. It was a smart play on his part, but not a charge. The one on Evans was legit. Evans should have known better as he has been called for that same move in the past. Bottom line there were three called charges in the final minute, including one on UWM. I just don't appreciate refs who feel they need to decide the game with their whistles. Also visible on replay is a blatant missed traveling call on McCallum before falling out of bounds at 26.5. So, no reward for terrific full court D. But again, congrats on the win.

Could you be any more backhanded in your "praise"?

Could you be any more backhanded in your "praise"? there were bad calls in that whole game both ways, if we had lost I would prolly be int he same boat and feel the same way that phelps does since there are a decent number of calls that were either questionable or borderline that could have effected the game either way for both teams i would say.....at least though it was better officiating then the Detroit game.

Did the Raiders stop crawling all over Ant Hill's back after every member of their frontline had amassed four fouls at the 10:54 mark?
Or did the officials simply decide not to call them any more?
This is my problem with nitpicking the officiating after a loss. In this league especially, they're equally bad for both teams.

Listening to WSU fans cry about the officiating throughout the entire game was bad enough but I thought I was at least done with it when I left the game.
Why should Raiders fan expect to go on the road and have the second string get every call?
Or expect that fans of the home team won't cheer in their own gym?
Or that their trumped up complaints will gain traction here?
Jarob didn't travel, he was pushed out of bounds by two defenders. You don't want Ant to shoot so many free throws, don't play hack a Shaq d. If you're upset by charges perhaps you should encourage your team to quit running into stationary defenders and pushing off so much with their off hand.
As Big D mentioned, the refs called that charge all game long. One team adjusted, the other lost. End of story.
Sometimes it's easier to blame the refs than accept the fact that your team's play cost them a game they could have won, but that's the case here.
It's probably silly to feed the trolls with this response, but so be it.

Now then, back to the game.
I was very happy to see the team rebounding effort by the Panthers. Creating second chance opportunities and limiting them for Wright State were critical in this close game.
In addition to carrying the scoring load, I was very impressed with Ant Hill's defensive effort. His help on high ball screens throughout the game was tremendous and the rest of the team did a good job rotating to his man on the rare occasions when he was slow getting back and the Raiders were able to dump the ball inside on the pick and roll.
I would absolutely love to see this scrappy team d and rebounding carry over through the UWGB game.
Also the long week of prep couldn't come at a better time with so many Panthers getting a bit beat up over the last several games.
