I realize its still a long way to go before this could happen but I was wondering. What would it take the rest of the way to have a shot?
I know we won't be in the CBI because its pay to play (Which we won't do) but since the CIT is not pay to play do you think we have a shot?
I hope we can go 5-3 in HL play and win the Bracket buster to finish 16-14. Then if we can get a win or two in the HLT we may have a chance.
Last year I thought we got snubbed out of a bid and I even emailed the selection committee head about it. He said we were in consideration late but ended up not making the cut.
So what kind of RPI and how many more wins do we need to get there?

So UWM has a 20-win season last year and was left out of the CIT, and you think they'll get in with 17-18 wins?
Impressive as the two wins over a turning out to be a return-to-the-upper-pack Butler (and I guess Northern Iowa), no ... not getting a CIT bid.
Pretty much would need to win out and get to Horizon semis (at least) to have any remote chance.

Well I see what you are saying but in the email I got last year from the CIT Committee they said Non-D1 games didn't count so really we had 18 wins last year to them.
Creighton got in at 16-15 last year and Lyola Marymount got in at 18-15.
All of our games are D1 this year so while our chances may be slim I will hold out hope that we can end the season on a hot winning streak.

Our lack of a CIT bid in 2009-10 was due to a certain someone I like to refer to as Our Former Fearless Leader.

It also owed to a lack of RPI top 50 wins (the Panthers have two this year, one on the road) and a glut of RPI 200-plus wins (last year, the Panthers had 10; this year, they have five).
Of course, any talk of a postseason berth assumes the Panthers will find a shred of consistency.

Let's put it this way. If the Panthers start getting some wins, I would rather talk about them winning four games in the HL toury!

"Why don't we just start talking about next year then?"
I just don't understand this mindset.
A postseason invitation -- any postseason invitation -- wouldn't be progress for this program?
In my opinion, it's this boom-or-bust mentality that's gotten us in this mess in the first place.

I hear what he is saying, we are plying well and the conference tourney should be up for grabs. However if they don't win I am all for playing in any postseason tourney they can get into.

They're not mutually exclusive. We just need to win every game possible.

For me it's not a boom or bust mentality, it's just saying if we are going to get hot with wins, let's take the league.

We don't play for the team. We're free to speculate about absolutely anything. We can get excited about a potential NCAA tournament appearance while still wondering what it would take to pull invitations to one of the other tourneys.
