A sincere congratulations and good game to the Panther Nation. As an Mu fan I feel lucky to escape with a win. Jeter and his guys were ready and had me sweating all the way. What a run we got from you guys. You should be proud of the effort!

Great effort by Milwaukee after getting down big early. Game should benefit both teams moving forward.

Good game by both teams. All the MU fans around us were class acts, no bums. Good time despite the loss.
If this Milwaukee team shows up each game against HL opponents, I think a Tuesday March 8, 2011 date may be in order.

Jivitz:
You're a good man and classy fan.
Let's compromise and do a four-year deal, with three of the games at the BC (it's completely unrealistic to ask for much less). You have to seed this series by playing it annually in order for it to grow.
If nothing else, last night's game speaks to the evolving parity in college basketball and the absolute importance of homecourt advantage (though the crowd was small, it was a partisan UWM gathering).
Can you believe that some attendees spent $3.25 (the cost of a loge-level season ticket) for a seat at that game?
It's disappointing to see the Panthers fall to 0-10 in the Division 1 history of this series, but I foresee good things happening for our program the next four years.
In the meantime, best of luck to classy Buzz Williams and his Golden Eagles the rest of the season!

Much appreciated jivitz. And the majority of MU fans yesterday were great guests, welcome to join us again this year if they'd like. ;D With Buzz at the helm, it's harder to hate MU than ever. It sucks that it's the loud minority of holier-than-thou MU fans that gets all the attention on this board. Including from me.

2-1 is the right approach for now. Good for Marquette, good for Milwaukee.
I brought some very enthusiastic MU fan friends to the game yesterday. They loved being in the Cell. Couldn't stop talking about how it's a great basketball arena and a much better place to watch the game than the BC, and they had nothing but good things to say about the Panthers' effort after the game. Once you get away from the hyper-partisans who infect the message boards, you find that the general fans out there would have no conception that there could be anything controversial about this series. They just enjoy it, which is the whole point of entertainment, right?

What a game is right. And the MU fans who showed up (those who aren't series-protesters*) were very classy. I look forward to this series continuing for the foreseeable future. It may very well be just as competitive as tonight for years to come.
It's significance isn't nearly as big as a conference game or a conference tourney game, but I look forward to this game just like those big games. We gave it a good effort. Let's beat them across the street next year.
*you can fault the late single game ticket availability, but c'mon now... let's get real for a moment. You know if the MU fans who choose to stay home wanted to go to this game they would have bought tickets no matter when they went on sale.
That was expected, but disappointing nonetheless. And the failure of our base to bring out more than 5,000 was frustrating. We gotta distinguish ourselves I guess. But hey, I'll take a 7,000+ partisan UWM crowd over a sold out Cell with a 60-40 split of MU-UWM fans any day.
That place got LOUD at the end of the game last night. Maybe we can turn the corner and get some W's in the final two of this homestand.
But again, please UWM and MU admin. officials- RENEW THE SERIES. It's something that a bona-fide sports town does.

To be honest, I never really liked getting into the series debate or the argument over how many should be played, etc. I just leave those things up to the individuals who make that their responsibility. Hopefully when the new AD takes over it will be a good deal both ways. 3-1, 2-1 whatever. I think you could make good arguments for both but I won't because it will never end. It looks like Steve and Buzz have put their best feet forward already to create those relationships in the state (i.e. Green Bay series deal). The only real problem/ thing that irks me is the pass UW seems to get with this situation. To my knowledge they have always had a much worse and ridiculous deal (something like an 8-1) with the Panthers but don't seem to get the vitrol MU has gotten on the series. Either way it was a heck of a game. The attendance thing is disappointing but what can you do. From my perspective of course why wouldn't you go, but then again i'm a huge bball fan. I'm sure big fans of the ballet say the same thing, but everyone has their cup of tea. Completely agree about the homecourt advantage, I think it means so much in college bb.

This current series between UW and UWM is indeed a mess but they have actually played at Milwaukee in seasons past even before the series was restarted in 2001. MU had never played at UWM, that's where the difference between the two series is at in regards to grief given to UW and MU.
