Ryan Allen...at half time that was the name everyone was saying...me included.
For those of you not there what I was saying and someone correct me if I am wrong, but IMO.
Ryan Allen is Avery Smith but faster, stronger and more in control of his body, and just like SuperKing said he should be a huge contributor!

Those of you who follow this forum know I have been critical in the past. I'm trying to get my foot out of my mouth. Had a chance to talk to coach Jeter after the scrimmage. You could see his confidence and excitement for this team.
I'm still impressed by the balance this team showed in the scrimmage. Opponents will not be able to key on any one person or position because everyone on the court has a chance to score. Depth is there, they lose very little when subbing.
Those who are closer to the team could address this best. It seems this team has really good chemistry.
I won't make any predictions or state any expectations. But I will not be surprised if we are watching this team play on Tuesday March 8th.

Ryan Allen stood out to me. He is fast and can jump. This guy should for what I saw last night, get alot of playing time.

Ryan Allen reminded me a lot of Sidney Moncrief.
The way he played, his movements, even looks a little like him.
It would not suprise me at all to see Allen starting at some point this season.

"Those who are closer to the team could address this best. It seems this team has really good chemistry."
I would say the Italy trip helped this immensely.
This is not going to be a boring team to watch by any stretch of the imagination. Also with 10 or 11 guys who play, we should be able to run teams into the ground and wear them out down the stretch of games.

A few random thoughts and observations
- Kaylon Williams is a bona fide true point guard. He’s going to make a lot of guys better around him.
- Tony Meier has packed on some pounds and it shows in his low post game. Nice to see him show some toughness – an element that was lacking last year.
-Ajami will be the backup point guard. When Williams was out, he handled the ball – and well.
-Kelm is going to be factor this year. He’s substantially bigger and stronger than I had thought. I'll bet he put on 30 pounds since last year as a HS senior. I expect him to get a lot of minutes off the bench.
-Ryan Allen is ridiculously athletic. I’m not sure exactly what role he will play, but he’s a great defender and will certainly be in the mix for significant playing time.
-I think we saw a lot of what the rotation will be this year, and its not going to be 11 deep. There are some talented players who wont see as many minutes as they like.

I would rather have Ryan Allen start over Ajami. What do you guys think?

The scrimmage was fun to watch. We will go legitimately 11 players deep this year, and I don't think the H League is very aware of what they are in for. In addition to returning Ant, Tony, Jerry, Ryan, Lonnie and Ja'Rob from last year, we are adding five very talented guys in Tone, Ryan Allen, Kyle, Kaylon and Mitch.
A starting backcourt of Tone and Kaylon instantly becomes one of the top three back courts in the league. But the quality depth behind them is remarkable.

IDK I think Allen off the bench would make the second line a lot better. Ajami has shown some improvement in his game and in his body. He worked hard in the off-season and it shows.
Honestly I hope that Allen and Kaylon get alot of minutes together. With the way Kaylon runs the floor and Ryan's ability to penetrate the middle we could see a lot of good moves between the two.
Also I'm shocked I haven't seen this yet, but can we say we have the ability to be a DUNKING team again? Allen could have had 4 last night, and yes I know it was a scrimmage but still they are looking for it, unlike in the past.

I'm not at all as concerned about being a dunking team as being a WINNING team. If it takes more acrobatics to achieve that, I'm all for it. But the one doesn't automatically translate to the other.
As for the rest, I think the fact that we have 12 guys who can play will come in handy when the team is inevitably visited by injuries. Look what's already happened at Cleveland State and Wright State. Before so much as playing their intrasquad scrimmages, they're missing key pieces and don't appear to have the depth to cover.
My No. 1 wish for the next two-plus weeks is to avoid injuries.
This -- and the team's tremendous length at all positions -- appear to be its greatest advantages.

I agree dylan, winning is better than dunking. But you have to admit, it's the dunks that will get the average fan to come back and see another game or two.
We have an exciting team this year, can't wait for it to start.

Dunks also get the crowd into it which the crowds havent been the loudest. Even though it got better last year!

I think everyone would take winning over dunking anyday of the week.
The slam dunk gives the crowd energy and the teams feeds off the crowds energy, which helps in winning.
