If Carter's back next year, he'll immediately be our go-to post guy and could dominate the league if healthy. What?! Once he gets an opportunity, he'll clearly dominate. Why Odom, Horn, and now Jeter, won't play this guy is a huge mystery.

Carter has never dominated at any level. I think you forgot the yellow font for sarcasm in your post eddie.

Carter is great for when Ant and Tony and Kyle get in foul trouble. He's very active, but seems a little too active at times. If he can get his body under control, he's physical enough to draw fouls down low. For us to expect anything other than that would be foolish. For him to give us any more than that would be a huge bonus.

I like how in the span of two f**king games everyone has totally jumped ship on Mitchell Carter, a player with a goddamn injury. Over the summer it was, "OMG MITCH CARTER HAS BEEN TEARING UP EUROPE." Last month it was, "OMG MITCH CARTER HAS BEEN POSTING UP WITH ANT ALL YEAR IN PRACTICE AND LOOKS LIKE A BEAST." Last week it was, "OMG MITCH CARTER LOOKED SOLID IN GAME ACTION AND SCORED ALMOST EVERY TIME HE TOUCHED THE BALL." And now, suddenly, after limited action in his first games in over a f**king year, it's all "OMG MITCH CARTER CLEARLY CAN'T PLAY DIVISION 1 BASKETBALL."
Get your heads out of your asses and stop overreacting. He is injured. Carter has done nothing to show anyone, over months and months, that he's not fully capable of eating up the block when healthy.

Carter averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds as a senior in high school.

And? Didn't prevent him from being named a McDonald's All-American. Highly-touted (and now redshirt) Wisconsin center Evan Anderson averaged 10 and 5.6. Also, by all accounts Mitch was very good in Italy at 6.3 PPG in limited minutes. Trip to Italy = this summer. High school = 4 years ago.

Wow! I didn't know he was a McDonald's All-American ... even more reason that Jeter should be getting him into the game. COME ON, ROB!!

Jeter is rightfully withholding minutes from a still-injured player. By the midway point of the season, however, he should probably be getting 15 minutes or more.

I thought it would be a good idea to bump this thread as a reference point for those who think the board has turned into a bunch of big meanies. Most on here thought we'd be eating at Mr. B's and are instead grilling Texas Toast at the Prime Quarter.

I miss Prime Quarter. In the middle of January, when you are freezing your ass off, it was nice to go in there and stand around that hot grill. A nice reminder of summer, if only for a little while.
As for our season, I would say that my expectations are not being met.

a minimum 21 wins, a top 4 finish, and a berth in the HL Semis. To meet my pre-season expectations we will need to go 13-4 down the stretch and win 2 games in the tournament. the good news is that if we did this we would almost certainly get a bye to the semi's in the HL Tournament. the bad news is that the absolute best case scenario is probably 11-6 down the stretch, and a 17-13 record. And that's a probably an unrealistic expectation too at this point.

I just should have hoped that they play the right way, they improve from week to week, and, most importantly, have fun out there. Those things are all more important than wins and losses.

I know my expectations are too high, but NCAAs/NIT or bust. I should have replaced "too high" with "completely unrealistic." Oh well. I'll settle for improvement and consistency at this point.
