Skrap brought up a good point, which are acoustics in the building. My personal experience at the Boogiemen concert at Panther Madness and the Second City performance at Campus Kickoff in 2005 made the KC sound good to me.

Great article. I am with you on Merchandising. They need to get a cut of that money. Its not going to cure their financial woes but its a start.

BP- You said that the Panthers should move back to the KC. How could that even happen? Doesn't the HL want your school to play in a 5,000 seat arena.

I think he is talking about brining them back to a new arena. I have always been in favor of moving them back to campus and if we have an agreement to build a new arena I am sure we could deal with the KC for a couple of years until the new facility gets built.

Exactly. I sincerely doubt the H League would have any problem with us moving back to the KC as long as there was actual work being done to redo it or replace it. People can argue about whether that would be the right policy decision, but the "rule" would not be a big issue. That's like all the Marquette fans who constantly rebut the idea of having a four team Wisconsin D1 tournament by saying league rules wouldn't allow GB and Milwaukee to potentially play a third game. Anyone who thinks the H League would stand in the way of such a tournament has rocks in his head.

to speak to your point #4...
we used to rent out the klotsche for wiaa bball tourney sectionals. my junior/senior year 01/02 we played there losing to tosa east (1 of those being the devin harris and scott merrit teams)both times. i would imagine the wiaa left due to scheduling conflicts and that concessions suck. the next year they were held @ whitefish bays fieldhouse and now they're at the mcguire center.

Sorry, I never heard a Marquette say that about UWM & UWGB. It's happened. Scrounge through old posts and you'll find it. It was a company line, especially before we signed our deal to play MU.

Agreed, but when you and jivitz are the only decent MU fans that show up on this board, these people don't get a proportionate view of the crowd.

The only thing about playing in Klotsche is that they just renovated it. Not sure about the cost, but if we now start up construction again, will it effect the Pavilion? Will it limit the basketball arena at all if it shares space with everything else? I'd just assume use the new space from St Mary's if it means tearing everything down.

I do feel that if the arena is to be built on the hospital grounds, they'll have to reconstruct the current KC into a practice-specific facility for teams and maybe continue to be the home of volleyball

Nowhere does it take into account the fact that football and men's basketball bring in millions of donations every year to all aspects of the university. I do think that football itself is a lot costlier at most schools than it should be. Look at some schools that have done well recently in FBS despite having expenses hover around $5 million to $10 million:
Ball State - almost crashed the BCS before a defeat in MAC title game Cincinnati - lost to Florida in Sugar Bowl this last year Boise State - Just above $5 million per year, they get it done year in and year out Houston - On national TV more than most teams in mid-major conferences
See, around here people think you need to spend more than 15 million to be a national contender. Look what that's done for Madison, with their $22 million football program...they haven't been to a BCS bowl in a decade. Meanwhile, Boise State is rolling along, making smart hires and recruiting the right kinds of players.
