Reading that article was by far the biggest waste of my time... ever. I don't care what kind of history this guy has in Milwaukee (even though I've never heard of the schmuck before) because this is the worst "argument" I've ever read. I was going to post a very negative comment on the website, but I realized that it's not even worth the 2 minutes for me to sign up for a website that I will never visit again.

It's this a**hole's stupid opinion that drives me nuts, and in turn make me appreciate Milwaukee & it's athletic program even more.

Yes, he may be out of touch. What he is not is some snot nosed guy with a webcam shot out of his mother's basement. At one time he was a good reporter for the Journal, which makes an article like this strange. He has done better.

I vividly recall his famous run-ins with then-Packers coach Bart Starr, but that's now 27 years ago and counting. We often talk about relevancy on this board; when's the last time Dave Begel was relevant?

i don't remember him ever being relevant, but i haven't always paid much attention to the Journal-Sentinel or its predecessors.

I have been reading this blog for more than a year and I respect and enjoy the postings here. I think this topic is terribly interesting no matter what side of the story you come down on. Perhaps Jimmy Lemke should have his own thread so that thoughts on his writings and positions could be debated. Certainly there are people who like his writings and there are those who don't but it seems outside of the idea of this thread.

I've seen a lot of people calling Koonce a "pill-popping addict" or other such epithets. He is a person with a problem most likely and was not able to keep up with the rigors of the job. If he had a mental breakdown and turned to less than respectful tactics to deal with his deep personal problems then I wish him the recovery he deserves. His recovery should not be a debate, his ability to do the job obviously can't be debated because he did not perform at a level that was necessary for a program that serves students and alumni of uwm.
