I'd feel a lot better about that lineup if we had Tyrone Young at the 2 guard. Over Brad Carroll, Jason Deutcheman, or Ryan Thornton??? ;D

If we give the spot to Carroll, we'd first have to take his number down from the rafters.

I did not phrase that very well....I was serious though....with the other kid signing and Williams looking like a long shot those were the two identified PG prospects.... is this kid Plan B is all I am asking?? as far as pg's....maybe we will end up using someone already on the roster or what I am wondering are their others we are still actively pursuing or is this kid the one given he is a PG??? EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!

EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!! Sorry again Steve. Just joking around. Your concerns are very real. Kaylon Williams would be such a steal IMO, but like you said, getting him is not a given. I have to think that this kid, as a walk-on, would be planned for a redshirt. He is not the answer to our PG question...

Hey JG... sorry too for being too sensitive...I take this stuff way too seriously at times because I care so darn much!!! Hope we have an answer on PG as looking at our current group I do not see one that would be real effective....Ja Rob not strong enough with the ball and need his shooting from the wing...Lonnie and Jerard Ajami are not real good ballhandlers.. Deonte, who knows? I like Souter in small bursts but when I watch him I just have to wonder if we would be a HL contender with him as our main PG.. this is a real important position and one that we have been lacking.....we did not get Ricks last year and the two main candidates in the paper look like probably not going to happen...we have our work cut out when you look at who Butler has back next year... Detroit (wow).. Valpo had two newcomer of the year guys.. Wright State, Cleveland State etc...hope this Leek Leek is the real deal and Tone comes back strong...

No shame in that Steve...
I don't believe there is anyone on our roster who is capable of playing that important Point Guard position at a level high enough that will allow us to challenge for the League Title. If Northern Iowa, Iowa or Iowa State offers Kaylon Williams, he'll say yes almost immediately...That is the sad truth...

Not sure about this, fellas.
ISU returns senior Diante Garrett, who was third in the Big 12 and 38th in the nation in assists a year ago at 5.1. Garrett, who hasn't missed a start in his career, now ranks eighth in school history.
UNI returns junior Johnny Moran, who last season backed up Ali Farokhmanesh and averaged nearly 31 minutes playing at both guard spots. As a high school senior, he averaged 7.5 assists per game.
The Iowa situation has already been documented and would present Kaylon with some tough choices, one of which is that he won't win immediately.

No expert here, but Kaylon all but declared in an interview that if Iowa or Iowa State offered he'd accept. Our only chance, IMO, is if neither of those schools offer, and I'd heard that Iowa was sniffing around prior to Lickliter's firing. Even if neither of those schools offer Kaylon, I assume we'll still be fighting for his services, but like I said, I'm not an expert. Just piecing together information...

That interview was a long time ago. The situation at Iowa is very peculiar. Iowa State, he'd be a backup.
He can't go to Drake or else he'd give up a year of eligibility.

That interview was less than two months ago... That's not a long time at all. Good point about him not being able to go to Drake or Northern Iowa. I forgot about that stipulation.

A long time ago in the fact that UNI wasn't in the Sweet 16, Iowa had a completely different coaching situation, and Iowa State...well, they just suck.

So, Iowa St sucks, but he'd be their backup....not a good endorsement for this kid....

I thought I missed something in the past week on this board when I read the paper this morning about Tyler leaving.
