HEY ALL!!!! I just wanted to let all of you Klotsche Krazies know about the latest news with the Dance Team. We currently get our funding from a group called SFC, they are however trying to cut from getting this funding. They are trying to get us to get our money from a group that will no be able to give us as much. This will then result in the Dance Team losing our coach! This would be a terrible thing for the Team. Our coach does so much for the team and it would be very hard for a member of the team to take her position. We also already fund raise more than half of the money that we use for things like shoes, tights, costumes make-up and nationals. The SFC is trying to say that we are not critical to the university. However by us going to National we bring National recognition to the University, (we basically help to get UWMs name out there). Because we have won a National Championship in Hip-Hop , I would say that we are critical. We also perform at many athletic event, which some may say we are just for show, however there are people who enjoy our performances. What would go on at half time if we weren't there. So basically I am tiring to say that if you would like to help us PLEASE attend the Senate Meeting on Sunday Dec. 18 at 6pm. It is held in the Union (most likely the Ballroom). Please come and show your support for the Dance Team. If you have any questions let me know!!

Bear with me if you don't care about Student Government, I only comment because I'm on the Senate and need to clear a few points...
Actually, SFC, after long deliberations, chose to keep the dance team funding. The issue was again brought up in the Senate confirmation and the funding was again maintained.
What has occurred is that the President of the Student Association: Russ Reuden has chosen to veto the wishes of the SFC and the Senate, thus cutting Dance Team funding. The emergency meeting will mark the third time that the issue has been discussed.
It is Russ Reuden that you should be upset with and not SFC.

I'm sorry if it seem as if I am mad at the SFC. I am not and neither is the team. We understand that the SFC already said yes, however there are a few people trying to still say no. The Team is just trying to get support for the meeting to show that we are wanted here because we know that there is still a chance to receive the funding.
The team and I all realize that it is not the entire SFC committee that wants us cut.

now i know the $$ comes from 2 different places but..... if we (the band) get paid, then its only fair that groups like the cheerleaders and dance team get the money they need in order to perform their very best. fan, do all you can in the senate to keep them funded.

This whole situation is garbage...the dance team is agood thing, we have groups that perform, it makes it part of the game...we need someone out there during breaks other than the cheerleaders...unless they start doing some high flying crazy stuff...

wow, this is starting to get ridiculous. Some ass wipe actually created a "cut the dance team" facebook group. I guess two can play at this game. If you want to help support the dance team, come out to the senate meeting at 6 p.m. on sunday to show your support.

Rather than a Save the Dance Team Party or even going to the Senate meeting, your BEST action would be to contact a Senator and tell them they need to be at the meeting Sunday to vote for Dance Team. Your Senate's website is www.uwm.edu/StudentOrg/sa/senate.htmMost have their emails listed next to them. A few have their AIM names and all names can be searched for on the UWM people search to find their correct email. This is much more quick and effective than sitting in the back of a senate meeting that you are unable to speak at.

This would be a real shame. One of the reasons so many people prefer the college game to the pro's is the color and atmosphere. The Dance team definitely adds to that.
A friend of mine from Madison has started coming to the games with me and he said thought our dance team was better than anything he's seen at their games. Other committments keep me from coming to the meeting, not that anything an older alumni might say would help.
Good luck and keep the faith
