Four teams, includes both mid-majors and high-majors, played in the biggest city's NBA arena. Two of the members are conference opponents.
Any chance this re-sparks the discussion? Now that all parties in the state are playing each other, a simple date change would set things up.

Butler's 2010-11 schedule www.butlersports.com/sports/m-baskbl/2010-11/files/1011Butler-MBB_Schedule.pdfI have the Bulldogs going 15-3 in conference and 23-7 overall in the regular season. (Butler, of course, won't be a BracketBuster participant for just the second time). For those who are curious, I have the Bulldogs losing at Louisville in the opening of the KFC Yum! Center, to No. 1 Duke at the IZOD Center, at Xavier, to No. 5 Baylor in the final of the Diamond Head Classic, at Milwaukee, at Detroit and at Valpo.

Butler's 2010-11 schedule (Grade: A-):
The good: vs. No. 1 Duke, vs. No. 9 Baylor (probable), at No. 19 Xavier, at No. 31 Siena, at No. 37 Louisville, vs. No. 42 Florida State (probable).
The bad: No. 220 Ball State, vs. No. 163 Stanford, vs. No. 157 Utah.
The ugly: vs. NAIA Marian (Ind.) University, vs. No. 325 Mississippi Valley State, vs. No. 250 Evansville.

How do they end up playing Miss Valley St? I can understand Marian and Evansville Miss. Valley State has a good class coming in this year. www.mvsu.edu/athletics/mens_basketball/article.php?entryID=2298Miss Valley State plays all non-league games on the road. Georgia, Indiana, St.Mary's, BYU, Butler, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Marquette and So.Miss classic. Wow! Back to Butler, I would guess Marian is close to Butler. It's a nice schedule for Butler. Home game versus Stanford on CBS.

Wow that is a tough schedule for MVS. Have to keep an eye out for that Indiana game. How great would it be if they pulled off the upset there. That would be awesome!!
Yeah, Marian, that's kind of like us playing Parkside last year, or Carroll this year. I get that one.

Several Butler fans aren't overly excited about the home schedule. However, with road/neutral games against Louisville, Siena, Duke, Xavier and potentially FSU and Baylor (in Hawaii), they really needed to balance the schedule a bit with some home games. MVSU and Marian were the last two pieces added ... not quality opponents by any stretch, but the advantage is that they don't require a return game next year (which allows Butler to add some quality road games, if they choose).
There will be one familiar name on the Marian roster ... John Lickliter will be playing after transferring from Iowa.

Back to Butler, I would guess Marian is close to Butler. The schools are less than 4 miles apart. Butler will be looking to even the all-time series at 1-1 ... Marian won the only previous (regular season) matchup during the '80-'81 season.

Butller could also meet up with Baylor in the Hawaii Classic.

Seth Davis piece about ButlerNo mention of the Horizon League at all. For all the hope that Butler's success would boost the Horizon League, I get the feeling Butler is now like Calipari's Memphis teams. Routinely thought of way out of the context of their own conference, to the point where the conference barely ever gets mentioned.
