Its time again to get those creative juices flowing. The university is asking you guys an other klotsche krazies to come up with a tee shirt design for the ages. The UWM store is running a promotion starting this week to "Dress the Krazies." The bookstore and the university want to make and sell a student section tee shirt out of the book store for all UWM students and friends. But before they can do that UWM is asking you guys the fans to create your own tee shirt. Go check out the contest rules. Winner gets 150 bucks and will get the chance to be apart of UWMs' traditions. www.aux.uwm.edu/bookstore/tshirtcontestSince the majority of Panther fans will find out about this contest through this web site we will run our own link to the contest web site. But you can also be assured that just about everyone on campus will hear about this because the bookstore is handing out 4 by 4 flyers with every book purchased.

Very cool. Props to the Bookstore for doing this ... and props to the Artist Formerly Known as BIMH and his crew for the shirts last year. Those obviously were the catalyst to getting the Bookstore to do it this year.

This is great for the university. Get freshman and returning students excited about the upcoming season and attending UWM. Have to keep that Sweet 16 Momentum going into the new academic year! -UWMfreak

That is awesome! What they need to do is really hype it up too, and hold of sale until like just before Midnight Madness. Make it seem as though you're waiting to get tickets to a sold out concert. Advertise it as "UWM Student Section Shirts, Your Ticket to Where the Action Is!" or something like that.
The only downside is it will be censored...so shirts the likes of "67% of UWM students have 0-3 drinks per week...We are the other 33%" and "Pissing off our opponents since 1973" may not be accepted. Didn't we have another good SBGC shirt???

damn, we (n8, ron diaz, and jvaldon) obviously didn't contact the bookstore again soon enough with designs. we'll just have to go and win the contest I guess. and I'll take responsibility for the design of the BIMH Shirts. Ron and jvaldon helped out with the concept and business aspects of it all, but I did the actual art. seems jvaldon will always be deemed as the creater of the BIMH Shirt, but he knows who the real genious is, right?

From what I read on the contest Web site, they'll be announcing the winning t-shirt at Midnight Madness and then passing out the shirt to students at the first game. After that they'll be available for sale at the bookstore.
It should be interesting to see the final (approved) designs.

Read this from the rules: "Your designs shouldn't be sport specific"
That will limit some options for creativity.

It says "should" not "cannot". If you have a sport specific shirt you can submit it and it will be accepted, and if its good engough it could get past the first round, its just up to the judges.
By the way I can answer any questions you have on this contest, just pm me or post it in this thread.

N8 I give you credit for the design, although if I remember correctly, It was my idea. I don't want to discourage anyone from the t shirt contest, but l am kinda disappointed with the payout. Also, anyone have any idea what they would end up costing? I'm guessing 15-20 bucks. Look for something completely new from the BIMH boys later this year.

That's right, Ronny. Damn the Man!
It would make more sense if the rules stated that it could be a general UWM / UWM athletics shirt, not that it "shouldn't" be sport specific.

your idea my ass ron.
it was and always has been a joint effort. nate did make the design cuz he is the bomb with photoshop and artsy crap like that, and the idea came up as a result of conversation during a world series game. without on part of the conversation leading up to the idea, it may never of happened. so none of the three of us can claim the idea as our own.
on the contest topic, whoever wins this is getting totally ripped off. the t-shirt buisness is one of the most profitible buisnesses ever. just assume that the bookstore is gonna sell around 500 of these shirts. they dont have to pay for using the logo, and it only costs them $150 for the design (or as i call it....you win 2 free textbooks) and it costs them about 5 bucks a shirt to make (which is a high estimate). then they sell thesse shirts for $12. you can do the math yourself, but even with a 10% comission off using your design you get over $600. The actual number would be higher.
Thats just my 2 cents though. hopefully its a good design. Truthfully, i'll probably own one anyways.

So is the first game defined as the first regular season game or will it happen at exhibition. I say do it at the actually season home game because the exhibition games can be quite depressing and gives off the wrong impression as to what our turnouts are really like now! Plus it usually never fails that the first exhibition is on Halloween weekend.

Axel's shirts are in. Before Upper Iowa as promised. I have them at my house currently. I will be distributing them at the game with McMillan, etc. as I can't handle 212 shirts by myself. We have limited quantities of XXL so if you're in need of that size you'd better be fast to act. The shirts will be free in the event that you come pick them up here at 2933 Cramer St. (conveniently close to Axel's) and give me your D-Board name. If I'm not here, Paul or Peter should be able to help you. Normal office hours are from 10:30am-3am.
We are deciding about the pricing on non-pickups. They may be $3-$5 at the game. Funds collected will be put in the SBGC account and used for future bus trips, etc. If you have another suggestion let me or McMillan know.
The shirt has a picture of a light bulb/basketball mix on the front with the words "The New Milwaukee Idea." The back reads "You call it a noise violation, we call it school spirit." The sleeve has the attractive Axel's logo on it.
Please stop at Axel's sometime and let the guys there know that you appreciate their support.
Thank you in advance.
Ben
