Jessie Evans' problem was the result of tensions between him and the athletic director and at that point had little to do with basketball.

The funny thing is that this thread doesnt make a damn bit of difference. If anyone things that barring some catastrophic incident Jeter is going to be fired this year when there is a new AD coming in, then you're nuts. You either make the commitment to support the team, or find another one to support. This team is not in a bad spot right now, and I find it funny how many on here can't muster up a positive thing to say when the team wins, but boy bring on a loss and here they come. If it is that frustrating why bother? 1. Of course this thread doesn't make a difference. This entire board doesn't make a difference. Your posts don't make a difference, so why do you post? Because you love UWM basketball and enjoy discussing it with others. That's all any of these threads are. 2. I can only speak for myself - I was impressed with this team after the Marquette game, and said so. This team sucked against Ball St. and Miami, and I said so. Most of us here just comment on what they see. If it's not good, then that's what you'll read. I'm not going to blow sunshine up anybody's ass if the product stinks. And it did in fact stink on Thursday night. 3. Do you equate honest commentary after poor games with not supporting the program? I hope you're not saying this, because you've always argued from a fair point of view. Sure I can, but can you honestly accept when I or others say that yes we lost to Miami, we did not play well, but that Miami is a good team? Am I blowing sunshine up people's asses when I say that? Miami is a senior -laden team who has played very well this year, and there were very few who thought we would win this game based on the comments in the thread, but we lose and now this? I'm just not making the connection. Discussions work best when people's opinions are respected. And that is not directed at you 97, just my comment.

This thread is unfortunate in the title. I do not detect anyone is saying Rob should be let go. On the other hand there is accountability and a lot of us like Rob but our first loyalty is UWM. Frankly, I hope things get better but also sick of the excuses. We are young, we played a good team on the road, blah blah. we stunk against Miami and I don't care what the score read or what they did vs Temple. .look at Butler. Did you see what they did vs Ohio State on the road and how well their freshmen played. We have looked awful against Ball State and others. . yes, I am glad we are 2-0 but we have to get a lot better. Those performances are indicative of us not being as far along as we should be as a competitive mid major program.

You do have to account for the opponent's performance in either a win or a loss. We played like sh*t against Miami, but to say that the statement that Miami is a good team is an excuse is just not right. Miami is a good team, no matter what conference they are in, and that Bramos kid is outstanding. If that's the case we should be steamrolling everyone on the schedule, no matter what their skill level is. Butler did well against Ohio State, totally, but I also think that Ohio State did not play their best game. If they had, they would not have left Butler's shooters as wide open as they did.

OSU did not play their best game? Butler committed 19 turnovers. So if OSU didn't play their best game than Butler must not have played their best game because OSU didn't cause those turnovers. So Butler's execution of the offense had nothing to do with it, it was entirely due to defense lapses by OSU? I simply find it ridiculous that people are making "excuses" for OSU's play contributing to the close margin of the game. Maybe it's as simple as Butler being better think we think.

Call it excuses if you want. The point I made in relation to ANY team, but in particular our game against Miami is that while we did play like sh*t, we also have to give credit where credit is due, and that credit goes to Miami because they are a good team. It's just that simple. If we won, people would have been saying that we beat a good team. Never anywhere in my post did not say Butler was not good, or did not play a good game. In fact I did say they played a good game. And yes, I do believe the play of OSU played a part in the margin (like I said before, you leave the shooter wide open and he killed them everytime - that's bad play). If you don't like my argument that's fine, but to call it an excuse is silly. Just as silly as it is to not acknowledge that Miami, even though they are in the MAC, does not have a good team this year.

I haven't made any comments about Miami of Ohio not being a good team. I would agree that they are a very good team.
Both OSU and Butler could have played better games. Butler had a season high 19 turnovers, how did that occur? Either OSU's defense had something to do with it or Butler didn't play as well as they could have. The argument that OSU's play had something to do with the margin is weak.

So either Butler could have played better or OSU defense played well and forced turnovers. But if you want to keep your weak argument going...

My argument was and continues to be that you have to account for the play of the other team. Butler played a good game, but OSU did not play their best.
You proved my argument. Call it what you want, but you did LOL too funny, especially since you want to throw jabs at it.

I don't necessarily think that it's time for RJ to go but I do understand the frustrations here.
Like others I'm not seeing any progress. Consider the fact that last night Cleveland State defeated Syracuse ON THE ROAD. In just three years, CSU has gone from the whipping boy of the HL to a program that can knock off ranked teams on the road.
In that same time period, we've gone from an NCAA appearance to two horrible seasons and maybe a mediocre season this year.
Yes, we lost our top 7 players after Jeter's first year and yes he was hired with little time to make up for that loss. But at what point do we stop making excuses?
If Cleveland State, Butler, and Wright State can demand and expect their teams to challenge BCS teams shouldn't we do the same? And why with the biggest alumni base in the city (maybe the state) should some of us assume that this program will NEVER get large scale support from the community?
It's about attitude. We expect our players to have winning attitudes but then many of us don't have one.
Expect to lose because it's a BCS school, we're missing so and so etc. etc. and you will. Throw up your hands and say that people don't care and never will and that's exactly what will happen.
For the time being, I'm in favor of patience (at least til the season is over) but what I'm never going to be in favor of is settling.
If you accept double digit losses to average MAC teams at home, humiliating defeats to other teams on the road, barely hanging on to beat a winless HL team that was missing it's top two players at home you're settling for a mediocre program that hopes lightning will strike, we'll get the right combo of factors and return to prominence.
I'm not saying RJ should go, but if after the season is over, we don't see progress then like many others I'm not going to settle for keeping him as our coach.

Are you saying Butler could not have played better?
Please explain your logic.
I really want to know how you account for a team having a season high in turnovers if they played a good game while the opponent could have played better. So OSU could have forced Butler into 30 turnovers?
Fact is, both teams could have played better, not just OSU. During the period in which they fought back from the 13 point deficit Butler players made some poor offensive decisions that were not the result of OSU. Had they made better decisions the results might have been different.
Is there an issue with acknowledging Butler is good team this year?
