It's ridiculous to keep this thread going in early December.

agree but lets hope it gets a lot better by end of season. . .resurrect at that point once all is said and done. Want to be fair but on the other hand I do think people have been patient. There should have been a lot more progress by now in this program. .let's hope this great young talent that is so promising blossoms under the great coaching . . by year end.

Rob is a great guy. Ric Cobb was a great guy too. . I met Ric Cobb at a Concordia Neighborhood tour one year in the late 1990's, he was a very nice guy. I went over to the Butler site this morning. Freshmen led the way in the road victory against Bradley, Not seniors or juniors, but freshmen. The game against OSU might be fun to watch. One thing we do need to remember is that Butler is able to get some of the top recruits in Indiana to commit. In the past they have gotten players over ND, Purdue and yes, even Indiana. This is one things that will never happen to UWM, we will never get a player to commit to us over the likes of Marquette and Wisconsin. With that in mind, UWM needs to rely on other things to compete and at least from the outside it doesn't appear those things are there. Things could be in place, but it doesn't appear that way from the outside. That perception and general lack of excitement will keep the fan base low and attendance down. I think we have to give the system another season, talking about doing anything after this season makes no sense. It is possible that the players may finally get it, things will click and the team will roll. But if after five years if there is not progress, than talk of a change is appropriate.

agree. if this program AFTER the 2009-2010 still indicates mediocrity that is enough. . time to make changes unless we are are willing to go back to the mid to late 90's and settle for that year after year. . maybe we will end up back at the Klotsche again. .

I am sick of Jeter. I graduated 3 years ago, and it was my senior year when we went to the Sweet 16 under Bruce. -Jeter has done nothing but destroy a program that was becoming legitimate. -Jeter has a losing record, and it would be much worse if it weren't for Bruce's recruits. - Jeter can't recruit. Look at the players on his teams. Nobody can shoot the ball, they are lost in his system, and the style of play is so boring that I am now falling asleep in games. -We can't compete with any major programs, our wins come against D-2 and D-3 schools. - I was a season ticket holder for the past 2 seasons after I graduated. My wife and I are no longer season ticket holders as it is not fun to watch anymore. -My parents, also alumn from UWM were season ticket holders for the past 8 years, they did not renew either. - I am afraid that Jeter is destroying the program, and he needs to be replaced ASAP. -The best thing we can hope for is the new A.D. to come in and hire a coach that can bring this program back to where it should have gone. Wow

Apparently we're in first place in the Horizon League, a perennial one-bid league save for about 5 years in its history.
gman, Avery Jukes led the way for Butler to win against Bradley. He's not a freshman.
Oh look, it's December and everyone's jumping off the bandwagon again.
Take a measured approach, people. The team is 5-5. A victory puts this team over .500. Guess what? A loss puts this team one game under .500 heading into conference where we're 2-0.
Don't get overexcited when the team is great, and don't get too depressed when the team is down.
At this point last year, the team was 3-7, They responded by winning 9 of 10, and would have kept the good times rolling if they didn't have 7 very tired and injured bodies finish the season.
I'm not saying we're going to finish great, I'm just saying you guys are freaking out too much and we haven't even seen the ides of December.

gman, Avery Jukes led the way for Butler to win against Bradley. He's not a freshman. Um, what? VS. Bradley Jukes (jr) = 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks in 19 mins Hayward (fr) = 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists in 31 mins Mack (fr) = 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists in 35 mins Nored (fr) = 7 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists in 25 mins ... there's more

gman, Avery Jukes led the way for Butler to win against Bradley. He's not a freshman. Take a look at the box score. Avery Jukes scored 9 points. Freshmen Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack each scored 20 points Freshman Ronald Nored scored 7. Freshmen scored 47 of Butler's 87 points. I would say Freshmen led the way. Title you beat me to it. Plus you also had the rebounding and assists stats!

gman, Avery Jukes led the way for Butler to win against Bradley. He's not a freshman. Jukes contributed 9 points off the bench after Howard got in foul trouble, but Butler was led in scoring by FRESHMEN Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack with 20 a piece. In starting 8-0, Butler is getting over 80% of its scoring from freshmen (47%) and sophomores (34%) . From a distance, it seems like Jeter has used the "young team" excuse over and over again.

exactly,
and nobody's jumping off the bandwagon, its just even when this team wins they show a ton of weaknesses that a better team could and would have exploited. Our defense is horrendous and most of the time the offense is anemic and predictable. I like Jeter, but these are his guys, for his system and there lost within it.
I really hope they improve but who knows?

People on this board love our Panthers. But, this team SHOULD get better by season's end. The most frustrating part of the whole thing this year is that there has not been progress shown from last season. There's been stability (minus the Franklin situation) this season; no other distractions I'm aware of. We have a good number of returnees on this roster, yet the progress is not there. In fact, they may have backslid a bit, even if it's not reflected in the record.

I didn't look at the box score. I listened to the post-game comments where Brad Stevens said Jukes did a great job leading the team with Howard out.
Now move past the Butler thing and respond to the rest of what I wrote, like reggiewheelerfor3, because there's a lot more than that which doesn't concern us.

Last year at this point we were 3-7...this year we are 5-5.
The only game that sticks in my craw is Ball St, because we should have one, and thus been 6-4. We have a ways to go as a team, but I do feel improvement has been made, but hey that's just me.

I'd also like to point out that in my memory, no college basketball coach has been fired this early in the season. I'm sure it's happened, so if you know of it, post it here along with the scenario.
