Evan Richard was named Telegraph Herald's Player of the Year today: www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=277704Keep in mind their area also includes the Dubuque, IA area (including NE Iowa), the rest of SW Wisconsin and NW Illinois. Still, a nice honor anyways.

Seems like we're getting a quality young man and player for our program. I've never gotten the sense that Jerry Petiguoue was one to toss praise around lightly.

I like the good news. I wonder if they will redshirt him or not? It's way too early to tell.

All the news I hear is that they have no plans to redshirt him.
Plans do change, of course.

We're a bit short on shooters next year -- Tone, Ja'rob, Lonnie, and Evan are basically all we've got -- so I highly doubt he'll be redshirted.
I suppose you could count Jerard, but....I don't.

I don't think he will be either, but don't rule it out. We haven't finished recruiting yet, and if we DO in fact bring in two more guards who are ready from Day 1, I don't see many minutes right away for Evan behind Tone, Ja'Rob, Lonnie, Juco Guard A, Juco Guard B, and maybe even Jerard and Patrick. Gotta earn your keep around here, and until the first day of practice starts, no one, not even coach Jeter knows who will play and who will sit (or redshirt for that matter).

Is Deonte not coming back or you considering him a SF? His ball handling and defense will be the things that earn him time next year if he gets any. If he is a turnover machine or can't stop anybody defensively I would guess he would redshirt and improve on those areas. But as somebody said before nobody knows until the first day of practice who will earn minutes.

I didn't include Deonte merely because we don't know what his official status is in regards to next season...

Makes sense. I guess we won't know until May if he has improved his grades enough to be eligible.

With Riley Walker leaving the program, we now have three available scholarships. I really hope they nab Stefan.

Mitchell Carter 3. Ja Rob 4. Boga 5. Tone Boyle 6. Meier 7. Tyler 8. Hill 9. Richard 10. Kelm 11. Leak 12. Vacant from Riley 13. vacant from Haggs

We used a scholarship on Michael Tyler??? Sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don't. The verdict is out yet on Tyler.

Whether or not Evan gets a redshirt is really hard to speculate with the potential of two more guards coming in. Not to mention we really have no idea what kind of player Tone is at this juncture.
That being said we know he is an athlete, and we know he can score, and next year we will definitely need scoring.
IMO Ajami and Tone (even if healthy) probably will not be in line for nearly as many minutes as they have garnered in the past, considering the talent pool of young shooting guards that we have.
