There's a lot of things Bret Bielema can't keep. His job will probably be one of them some time soon.

None of these "swing" kids were ever coming here to UWM. I have heard several reasons why...some I buy, and some I don't. I would have been more surprised if they had come. Just seems we have difficulty getting Wisconsin kids to come here. I dunno, maybe they see the City as too "diversified" as Tillema did.
Perplexing to say the least.

This is all news to me. Right before I interviewed Chip Rank two years ago, he looked at my Milwaukee Panthers cap and said, "Hey, nice cap." If any of what you say were true, then that would be hundreds of man hours gone to waste.

If a talented kid that you recruit, grows up in your backyard and goes to a conference foe, that is a loss. My rational is that you have had a head start recruiting this kid, and probably have spent more man hours scouting te player because of location. The coaches are around, the players are around, fans are around. All things equal, what is a bigger loss, a kid you recruited from California that decided to go to a Cal school, or a kid from Milwaukee, that you've known about since he was a freshman, that picks uic, Butler, or worse, gb? I go with the one you had a better chance of signing, the kid from Milwaukee!

For the record, I'm not convinced that Chip Rank -- or Kyle Kelm, for that matter -- is going to any Horizon League school other than Milwaukee.

But I don't think either will choose a Horizon League school. I think we have a better shot a Kelm at this point. My bet is Rank ends up at Northern Iowa or Miami (Ohio).

How do you explain away the close ties our program has with these kids and the programs they belong to? That is what sticks in my head that I don't have an explanation for. I don't know if we will see any of these kids at a HL school.

Chip's a good kid. He'll make a difficult but good choice of school to attend, unless of course he picks uwgb. He won't be like Tillema and be scared away because he thinks it is unsafe here.

Why do you think that? Just curious... Obviously a kid can change his mind, but I've heard from a reliable source that he has high interest in those 2 schools. Now who do we pursue as it appears we are not looking good with gasser, rank, or kelm?

We continue pursuing those three. And we continue pursuing all of the other recruits too.

I would hope we're not spending as much recruiting capital on Gasser as a guy like Rank. Unless Gasser is somehow leading the staff to believe we're near the top of the list, this guy is going to be a high-major recruit.

According to Scout Rank committed to Northern Iowa today.

At some point this program has to start closing highly-targeted local recruits. It's not as though guys like Rank and Averkamp are picking UCLA or Duke over us.

Having added Chrishawn Hopkins, Butler will, likely, no longer be a player for Gasser.
