It will be interesting to see how Cotton plays in the long run. There is no question that he is a good player, but he is not going to shoot 12-17 ever game (at least I hope not). haha Having not seen him play, I kind of envision a Rashad Philips type of player..... The HL is a guard dominated league, so he could really change the dynamic of Detroit - but as with all transfers, it is hard to tell in the beginning. On a side note, Eastern Michigan is a pretty good squad. They haven't played a great schedule, but they did beat St. Louis. Their next game is against Cleveland State. The next conference game is by no means a break (from playing WI, KU, Manhattan, etc.).......the guys will need to be focused, no question about that. IMHO Cotton makes UD a better team, how much better remains to be seen.

That's what I was thinking Panther 30, that Cotton immediately invokes memories of Rashad Phillips. This probably shouldn't come as a surprise, given that they don't extend invitations to the McDonald's All-American game to just anybody.

given that they don't extend invitations to the McDonald's All-American game to just anybody. I don't want this to make it seem like I am jumping on the Cotton bandwagon, but IMHO it is much harder to make the McDonalds All-American game as a guard than as a big man. Simply put, the numbers are against you, there are more guards than there are big men......as such, there is a lopsided number of guards guards who can flat out play; not nearly as many big men, especially high schoolers. There is a reason that the HL (and formerly the MCC) has had very few quality big men - there are not that many out there and the ones who are, are snapped up by larger programs. What I am getting at is that if you are a guard and are selected to play in the McDonalds All-American game it holds a little more water with me than a big man who is selected.......case in point, look to our friends 100 miles west. I am not taking ANYTHING away from BB (I think he will eventually be a real nice player), or any other big man selected, but it seems that a McDonalds AA guard can step in and make a difference right away (at nearly any program in the country, especially a HL school) whereas the same cannot always be said for a big man.
