Horizon League vs. Missouri Valley Conference What if scenario, a conference challenge...top teams face each other. I would have done RPI, but was too lazy to look it up. Deal with it. ;D
Wichita St. 5-0 vs. Milwaukee 6-1 W? Creighton 8-1 vs. UWGB 5-2 L Evansville 6-1 vs. UIC 3-3 W? SMS 5-1 vs. Butler 3-3 L Bradley 5-1 vs. Wright State 4-4 L Illinois St. 7-2 vs. Youngstown 2-4 L Southern Ill. 5-2 vs. Loyola 2-6 L Indiana St. 5-2 vs. Detroit 1-6 L Northern Iowa 4-2 Drake 2-4
Unfortunately I dont know the depth chart for the MVC this year, but I assume this will not be their order of strength by the end of the year. Southern Illinois and Creighton will more than likely be on top. I shifted around our conference based on teams that played some challenging non-conf schedules this year.
Northern Iowa and Drake would have to hang out together and watch or something cool. Any way, the H.L. would get rocked. We're definitely not a top Mid Major Conference this season, which is disappointing. I would also put the West Coast and Mid-American well ahead of us. It's a down year, that is pretty easy to judge! The 2002-2003 season was the last year I think the HL could compete with the MVC.

Whoops, I forgot Cleveland State. I guess Drake is sitting this whooping out. Get UWM out of the HL! I would consider our conference a low major this season. Amazing how things change in 2 years! Later, UWMfreak

Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't UWM be playing Drake next year? If so, that could be a nice little rivalry because of the Bruce Pearl-Dr. Tom connection...

My point - Let's ditch this conference. UIC, Butler...are you guys in? We have room in the van out of the HL! Of course, that's just dreaming... I like the MVC! Sagarin has the conference ranked ahead of the BIG TEN! ;D

Freak, you actually bring up an interesting point. IMO, UWM should entertain the idea of trying to get into the MVC. It makes sense for UWM, along with a few other HL schools. Mainly, UWM's best sports are arguably its basketball and soccer programs (men's and women's). Ironically, these are also the marquee programs for the MVC. Creighton has an outstanding soccer program, as do a few other MVC schools. The location makes sense as well, as many MVC schools are in UWM's vicinity.
I could see this happening sometime down the road. Maybe UWM, UWGB, Butler and UIC making "the jump". Who knows. Maybe wishful thinking on my part. But, I think UWM has plateaued in the HL. The MVC would be a definite step up. And, as long as we don't have a football program, as high as UWM's going to get as far as conference affiliation is concerned.

i'd love to be in the MVC. i could see it becoming the next "conference USA" of sorts should there be a mass exodus from the craptacular horizon league.

yea we definitly need to do something, if we cant jump, the horizon definitly needs to dump clev. st., and young st., maybe one other to, all they do is bring the rest of the conference down.
