A reliable poster on the UIC board is reporting that Banks, Bailey, and Williams are all in summer school, but......... only two (Banks and Williams) of them have a "slim" chance of returning, while Bailey is supposedly done. Here is a link - members4.boardhost.com/uicflames/msg/5580.html

Was the Bush signing the scholarship for Bailey? Is UIC still out recruiting for the other ones? How could they not have a backup plan for this? Very interesting....

I am still sticking with my prediction (ahem, ok......ok....inside information) that Bailey and Banks are gone. I don't think people on their board understand how hard it is to recruit players, when you have no scholarships left. Granted I have no idea when Collins new Bailey was in trouble, but with the 5/8 rule gone he had to know it was going to be slim pickings if his big 3 didn't make the grades. Oh well, Jimmy, deal with it!!

www.dailyherald.com/sports/sports_story.asp?intid=3818293Well it looks like Banks made it (damn you inside information ). Williams has to pass a test to be elgible, lets just hope its not one of those Georgia tests for basketball coaching 101. As for Bailey, IMO there is no way he makes it back for a 5th year..................but then again Jimmy Conning, I mean Collins is the coach and he'll find a way.

I don't know if I am going to believe anything until the season starts...... Just because someone prints something doesn't mean it is necessarily true We all know how accurate and diligent the the Journal Sentinel is in their reporting. I don't know if UIC gets any better treatment, especially in the Chicago market. Chances are good that the guy who wrote this article had one source for this article - Jimmy himself. You better believe that he is going to make it sound as optomistic as possible, especially in an article that is a ringing endorsement for himself as well as the UIC program (why add a negative connotation? even if it is a distinct possibility - this may be some peoples only exposure to UIC this summer and Jimmy knows that). Do you know what I am saying/getting at? I hope for Banks, Williams, and Bailey's sake (as people) they get their #$*@ together and pass, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Only time will tell. Keep in mind also, that this is an issue that involves the NCAA (5th year of eligibility), not just UIC. As such, I doubt that UIC will be able to "pull any strings" and get them on the court. I think it will be a cut and dried issue - either they make it or they don't - there shouldn't be any grey area.

It looks like Bailey and Williams are appealing . I really don't really know what that means. Other information on UIC hoops can be found at: geocities.com/uicflamesbasketball/news.htmThe most intersting tidbit is /me According to a tentative schedule obtained from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UIC would host the Panthers on Dec. 4 at the Pavilion in an early battle between the top two teams in the conference. This is a change from a previous schedule that had the two teams meeting twice in five days in early February. There is the possibility of television coverage for the contest.

Per the UIC message board: No Bailey and McGee for this year per grades. I am not sure if that means that McGee failed out of school or just out for the fall term. I assume this means that Bailey lost his appeal. This is a major blow for UIC if both guys are gone since they were the 1st and 2nd team PG from last years team. members4.boardhost.com/uicflames/msg/5815.html

too bad for UIC wait no, no it isn't. anyway......i don't know if any of you guys have actually looked at some of the posts in depth on that page but there are two guys on there that just rip on each other to no end. it is kinda comically but also a bit wierd that two fans of the same team from the same city have such a hard time getting along on a message board. maybe i'm jsut being a bit to anal about the whole deal but i guess that after being here on this board it just seems that everyone seems to have a fairly mutal respect for all of the other Panther fans on here, and to see two fans of another team (all be it the f-ing Flames) go at each other consistantly just strikes me as odd i guess. oh well.....no big thing really i guess just an observation that all.
