UWGB finally lands a big manBy Rob Demovsky rdemovsk@greenbaypressgazette.com The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball team has added some muscle to its lineup. Tevah Morris, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound high school senior from Clinton, Tenn., has made a verbal commitment to play for the Phoenix next season. He is expected to sign a national letter of intent next week. Morris, who averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds during Clinton’s postseason run to the Class AAA (large-division) state tournament in Tennessee, was No. 1 on coach Tod Kowalczyk’s wish list of high school post players and had been pursued heavily by UWGB since last summer. “He’s got such good speed and quickness for his size,” said Chris Lockard, Morris’ high school coach. “He might be the best true 5-man we’ve had in this area as far as being able to run the floor and play in transition.” That includes Morris’ brother, Toree, who last month completed his career at the University of Pittsburgh, where the 6-10, 282-pound center started 51 games. “At Green Bay’s level, to sign a guy with that size and that height is the most difficult thing to do,” said recruiting analyst Dave Telep of the Web site TheInsiders.com. “At 6-9 and 250, those are the kinds of guys that have an impact in the Horizon League. This is probably the best big man they’ve signed since Tod’s been there.” www.greenbaypressgazette.com/sports/archive/sports_15569596.shtml
