The thing I (and others around me) noticed though is that Avo moves. He gets the ball and he moves without hestitating. I don't know how many times I saw someone dribble in the post after getting a pass before making his move. More often than not his hesitation gave the defense time to react.
Then there were the passes. At times someone was wide open but the pass wasn't made until after a few looks, which again gave the defense time to react and way too often get the steal.
And what was with waiting til there were only 6 ticks on the shot clock before moving to the basket on the last possession in regulation? Everyone in the building saw it coming. And in the end there wasn't enough time to kick the ball out for a better shot. Maybe it was a good thing because there wasn't enough time for CSU to get a decent shot off to win the game after they stripped the ball away from Al.
Avo was 5 for 15 tonight but at least he didn't cost any points by bouncing the ball three feet from the basket or staring at someone for a few seconds before passing off.

With tonights win we move within a half a game of third place in conference. If anyone would have told me that we'd be here at this point of the season after our putrid non-conference performance I'd call them a homer and an idiot.
However, this season is far from over. Our remaining conference schedule runs down @butler, @wright State, Loyola, @uic, and @uwgb. That is a bear of a schedule, and I wouldn't be surprised if we lose out.
UIC will be our best opportunity for a win followed by UWGB, but the rest just seem like such long shots. Luckily this is college basketball and any team can beat any team on any given night.

UWM head coach Rob Jeter on the win
"I'm proud that these guys were able to come out after two emotional games, one on the road in overtime and then to play a game on TV and a rivalry game like we did, and come back out tonight and compete. It took all 45 minutes to do it. Cleveland State, you have to give them a lot of credit because they are getting better. They went on the road and beat UIC and they just carried over a lot of that same style when you watch the game. They get you to play a little bit at their pace and they wear you down. I thought they wore us down and we definitely had too many turnovers down the stretch. We allowed some things to happen that shouldn't have because we had too many turnovers down the stretch."
Jeter on whether fatigue was a factor after playing a third game in five days
"It can be different. Let's say you go on the road and get a win, and then you come back Saturday and get a win, the energy is a little different. But, our energy was slightly different than that scenario. Fatigue is always going to be a factor when you play that many games but still, if you are doing the right things (you'll be OK). I thought we broke down on some of our principles. We just didn't take care of the basketball and taking care of the basketball doesn't have anything to do with fatigue. That's just making sure that we're playing good basketball and I thought we gave in a little bit on the mental side of the game."
Jeter on the positives of winning another close game
"Well, I'm always going to take something positive away from a win. We went six of seven possessions where we had turnovers, but we were able to bounce back. We gave it up, but we were able to do enough to keep the game where it was still in the balance. So I would look at that as a positive. But I think we are a different team than we were earlier in the year, and I think, in the mental part of the game, we need to be a little sharper. I would just expect us to be a little sharper."
Allan Hanson on his team's approach to overtime after losing the lead
"Going into any overtime game, the bottom line is to just get it done. So that's the way we kind of approached it, that we had to do whatever we had to do in those five minutes to get the job done and score more points than them."
Hanson on his three-pointer to start overtime
"They came out in a zone and I kind of found an open spot in the zone. I just waited for them to get the ball around to me and I shot it."

Panthertrax most of the time when Avo takes over we win, so right now that argument is moot LOL! No harm no foul. I love AVO and hes fun as hell to watch, but his best 2 scoring nights came is loses 32pts @detroit, and 36pts @oakland, in both of the games he took more than a 3rd of the shots for the whole team. I know most of the time he steps up when nobody else will but some of those guys are never going to get a shot to do it if they dont get a chance. Last night they had 30 seconds to run a play and get a good shot off, but they couldn't even do it, but if there is about 7 seconds left and nothings is going then yes give it to AVO to drive.

I agree, just an absurd line for a guy who's supposed to be one of the top players on the team. We've seen way too many of those out of him this year and he needs to get better.

nice i gotta say my best comment was - "The closest you'll get to Europe is a map. OH YEAH!!!" My best was after the fourth time CSU took too much time to inbound. I screamed at the ref "Hey we have Head Start programs here. You too can learn to count to five."
