very nice...its kind of easy for the media to forget about UWM when we are having a down year and it is nice to get an article from arguably the number one writer for the MJS stating things will get better as well as writing about UWM and how the players we have this year are busting their humps to get better

We have got to give RJ a pay raise to keep him at UWM because the future looks extremely bright for this program with the type of recruits he's bringing in, and there is no question that RJ can flat out coach.

He got a huge payraise last year, there is no need to give him another one right now.

Plus the buy-out clause in his contract is huge. I believe it has been rumored to be close to $1 million.

If I recall correctly, he's now making around $300,000/year, and his contract is through the 2011-2012 season?
Something like that. Help me out.

i think he is over $300K and increases each year on top of performance bonuses for the HL and tourney

Pretty sure its in the $500K with about 60% supported by the university and 40% supported by donors with performance bonus for things like HL champs, HL Tourny Champs, NCAA tourny wins, etc much like he got last year and Pearl had.
He will get his raise when the team gets back to the NCAA tourny again.
I think the buy-out clause is a decelerator in that each year the contact goes by the lower the buyout gets. Not sure excatly but I think thats what they tend to be.

he was at $300K in the first season, according to JS article. i don't think he jumped from $300K to $500K in one year.
this was found online:
Approved a salary adjustment for Rob Jeter, UW-Milwaukee men’s basketball coach. As allowed by state statute, the Board voted to adjust Jeter’s salary to $350,000, effective June 1, 2006, and to $400,000, effective June 1, 2007, to recognize competitive factors.

Yeah, that what the university pays him. I think there are some additional salary compensations which are provided through donor support to make his contract more "competitive" after the whole ISU thing was over last year.

he has to earn the additional salary compensations. it's not automatic.

If Jeter's earning $400,000, it'll be expensive to buy out his contract. Hopefully if he's successful in the next few years he gets another extension.

when ISU was interviewing him this past offseason they reported that his buyout clause was $900,000 and he was paid $300,000. The team added a 2 year extension to his original 5 year contract, which really only ends up being an extra one year, since the extension includes his last of the 5 original years. Basically he's getting a big raise for those last 2 years if he's around. It is a decelerating buyout, and a big reason ISU hired McDermott is that his buyout was only $25000 which pales in comparison to Jeters 900,000.
