For starters, it'd be nice to see them shoot the way they did last night.

Get to the line all game long. I think the guys got discouraged that they were driving hard and not drawing fouls to get to the line. Avo in particular had about 3 drives that should have been And 1's. If we can get Pleiman in foul trouble that will make things much easier against Wright St.

With WSU now in sole possession of first place in the league, this is a great opportunity for the Panthers. I've got a couple of keys I'll be watching for in this game:
Balanced Scoring - It was great to see four Panthers in double figures against UIC. If three or four players can score in double figures, I think it gives our team a much better chance to win than having one or two players carry the scoring load. The Press - I thought the press was as effective as I've seen it this season in the UIC game. If the Panthers can press effectively against WSU, it would really help. Both the Panthers and Raiders have very similar turnover stats on the HL website stat page. Second Chance Opportunities - Although both teams average 21 and a fraction defensive rebounds, UWM leads the league in offensive rebounds at 14.2 compared to 10.1 for WSU. If the Panthers can maintain this edge and score off their second-chance opportunities, it could make a big difference in the game.
Including tomorrow's game, three of four home games have been against league leaders. The Panthers played with Butler to the end and beat UIC soundly. A solid game tomorrow will demonstrate to the league that our inexperienced team is coming together and can compete with the best teams the HL has to offer on its home court, setting up a very interesting second half of the conference season with a road-heavy schedule.

Way too many missed opportunities up to this point in the season, especially when we haven't shot well from the field.

I agree alot with what Ghola said as far as what this team needs to do to win the game today.
Just to expand on that a bit I think the team needs to shoot 45% of better. Its been a pretty simple formula this year to date: shoot well and they win, even if the other team shoots better. This will hold true if they continue to hit the offensive boards as hard as they have all year.
The guards need to find a way to contain Wood. He is going to get his points, but if they can keep him contained until late in the game and force others to score they should at the least keep WSU from pulling away. Also, keeping him off they line, he likes to get into the lane and draw contact and can make a living from the stripe if they let him.
Along those same lines, the team needs to stay out of foul trouble. This has been an issue especially with the guys in the thin front court.
Lastly a decent crowd and student section. I know its a Sunday and school is not back in session. But these guys are busting their butts out their and its starting to show in the W/L column. Its time for everyone to get back out their and be supporting this team for the last few remaining home games that are left.

with Butler's win over GB yesterday, they're tied for first once again, but I still think this game is a great opportunity for the Panthers. Due to Wood, I'm starting to wonder if the Panthers will press as much in this game as they did in the UIC game . I hope they can. Will Wood slice through the press the way Chris Hill did for us so many times, or will the pressure get to WSU and cause turnovers? Or will RJ have the team pull back and try to slow WSU down into a half court game? Can't wait to find out, see you all this afternoon! GO PANTHERS!

Can anybody help me out here...I'm utterly confused. First I saw the Wright St. game listed on JSonline.com as last night at 7:00pm, so I went to the US Cellular arena only to be greeted by Milwaukee Wave representitives, (luckily I ran into some friends at Major Goolsby's so it wasn;t a total lost cause). Then I read on JSonline.com today, that the game starts at 2:00pm today.....however, when I went the US Cellular website to confirm the start time (the hell if I waste a trip to the Cell because of another stupid misprint/mixup), and their website has the game starting at 1:00pm today!!! There's not much time before the game starts, but could someone tell me for sure what time the game starts today? Thanks a ton.

Nice game. Offensively they didn't take many unnecessary 3s and defensive pressure was great esp. on the inside. WSU missed a lot of close shots which can be contributed to sound defensive pressure. Plus they were all over the boards. Hope to see a lot more of what I saw in the second half.

What a great team effort today. Great win! Everyone who was on the court today contributed in some way. Way to go.

What a great win for the team. So many players had outstanding games and made huge contributions today. I'm really happy for them. After all the early struggles, to pull even in conference play at 4-4 with two straight wins over teams who were reaching for their crown must be a great feeling. They proved over the course of the last month that if you want to win the league, you're going to have to really work to beat the defending champions. Let's hope they can keep up this level of play through the second half of the conference season. GO PANTHERS!!!!

Terrific game. Really a team victory, as everyone contributed. Great energy on the court at some crucial times today.
Ricky Franklin has really turned the corner. He's going to be a special player as an upperclassman. I hope he gets that lost year back because he will be hard to handle.
Great accomplishment to get back to .500 from the way we started. I think this team has designs on a winning conference record and a first round tournament bye at this point. Wouldn't that be something?
I hope someone gets the word to the students that they are missing some great basketball right now. Not too late for them to join the party.
