big game on wednesday. obviously a rivalry game but UIC is tied w/ WSU on top of the conf. standings. unfortunately I'll be in Iowa checking out grad school so i won't be in attendance. discussion of the game begins...now.

It honestly depends on how UWM plays. We have the homecourt advantage, and UIC is a tough team when they want to be. If Avo, Massiah, and Paulsen have good games, then this is a W. Otherwise we're going to struggle.

I'm hoping that being embarrassed by YSU will fire them up.

Certainly, I expect a loss. Our guards just don't match up well with theirs. Our front line, meanwhile, is simply undermanned. There's no polite way of putting it. My hope is that the young players continue to get playing time and develop for next season.

I agree with most of what's been said thus far except that UWM has the home court advantage. Yes they are the home team, but I question the advantage part. A declining student body presence and a loss to YSU at the Cell back on Dec. 10th are the reasons why I question if an advantage exists. Hopefully the embarassing loss @ YSU will have them playing extra-aggressive and focusing for a full 40 minutes.
And it's going to sound like a broken record all year for this team, but in order to win they're going to have to:
1- defend the perimeter better and contain the opposition's guards. It won't be easy against UIC, that's for sure.
2- avoid the scoring lulls on the offensive end. They can do this by making free throws, going strong to the rack and finishing around the rim and working the swing for smart shots. UIC gives up the most points per game in the HL, so scoring opportunities should be there...UWM just has to capitalize on them.
They'll also need to keep Jeffers off the glass and out of the paint as much as possible. And as dylanrocks pointed out...that will be difficult b/c, he's right, our bigs are just being outmuscled down low and there's not much they can do about it b/c of lack of depth.

I suppose when I said "homecourt advantage" it was moreso the fact that it wasn't at UIC... perhaps we could say neutral court?

All I know is as pathetic as they looked on Saturday, they're equally as fantastic tonight. Running, trapping, moving the ball, hitting 3's, contesting shots....................it's like a different team. I assume Rob had a not-so-friendly talk with the club after the game. Whatever he said sure as hell has worked.

The live feed was a bit sketchy, but it's been pretty good since the 5-minute mark of the 1st-half.
