Folks,
When Valpo joins the Horizon League next year, I am tentatively planning to do for Horizon League fans what I currently do for Mid-Con fans: a news blog. I would like to guage the level of interest, but mostly find out if someone is already doing this exact thing or not (I don't want to duplicate effort).
I invite you to visit All Things Mid-Continent to see exactly what I'm talking about. I've been doing that blog for a couple of years now. The stats I keep on visits are not exactly legendary, but I do average anywhere from about 60 to 100 visits a week. At a minimum, I collect up links to all the on-line news articles I can find on anything related to any of the Mid-Con teams and post the links on a daily basis. These can be from commercial and University newspapers, national sports websites, University athletic websites, not only of Mid-Con teams but those of non-conference opponents just after one of our teams plays them. During the conference portion of the schedule, I also try to list the schedule on a weekly basis, with links to each school's webcast(s), current sagarin ratings, and down the stretch I try to analyze the seed tiebreaker situations, listing standings and games remaining.
I haven't thoroughly scoured the HL fan boards, etc, but I've flitted about for some time now, and I haven't run across anything that has that level of effort. The HL website has a listing of all the newspapers that cover the HL, along with its own news articles about the teams, and it looks better than the similar page on the Mid-Co website, but so far I haven't seen where I'd be merely duplicating what someone else is doing.
If I'm wrong about that, please clue me in and I will check it out.
In any event, my other question to all concerned: is this something you would be interested in seeing, or do you think it would be a waste of time? Please try to check out the blog I'm currently doing before you answer that.
I know I can do this if I want to anyway, and I do enjoy doing it, but am I am interested to know whether I'd be adding any real value or not.
Thank you for your attention, and good luck this season.
